"Tightening the requirements and narrowing the eligibility pool doesn't seem to change the minds of the senate."

:::sigh::: I'm not a politician and I don't pretend to understand the political process. But even I could have told them that those opposed to the DA isn't opposing it based on reasoned argument. NO AMOUNT of compromise on the DA will change the minds of the nativists.

You can't reason this out with these people. Only way is to shove it down their throats with Democrat majority votes or for Obama to sign EO, which is even less likely.

I can't really blame the Republicans because they will always be who they are: hate mongering, irrational children who think with their nerves. I say this over and over again. Democrats COULD HAVE passed the bill long time ago, as Obama promised he'd tackle immigration in his first year.

I'm not a pessimist. I'm not a nay-sayer. But I do understand reality and also understand that 60 votes is what we need and we are far short of it.

At this point, I am even comtemplating that Republicans use the next Congress to turn the tables around by passing the DA themselves and getting all the Hispanic votes on their side from then on. I'm not loyal to the Democrats. They already broke their promise and used us for their political gain. I'm loyal to whoever will give me an opportunity, even if it's the Republicans.

You know, when something costs 1 dollar, and you have 60 cents, then it's still better than 50 cents, but that doesn't mean you can buy it.

I said chances are better than ever before. I never said we had the votes. I clearly said we DONT HAVE THE VOTES.
