I will not be angry at myself for "not being proactive" I was quite active, etc, but just having a ton of calls and lots of action clearly doesn't cut it, we need different kinds of action you can't just ram through this subject you have to find ways to get through. Of course we can't be angry at the country itself, that just seems illogical but I believe you're wrong when you state that the politicians talk for what Americans want, it's been clear that they don't.
But the rest 3/4ths of your post is pretty spot on.

I mean being proactive out of the scope of relying on someone else's decisions (politics) since you have little to no control or influence on that area. Forge your own path with what's currently available to you. The passing of the DREAM act should only be an addition, a game changer of your future plans for the better and nothing else.
Politicians don't talk for what Americans want, they talk for what they NEED and they are pretty effective about it despite your opinion on the involvement of corporations, PACs, and lobbyists. Although it might seem to you that Americans "want" to help millions of undocumented individuals the reality is that they don't need to, and you can tell this easily because despite the political differences between parties no mob is revolting for us and they probably never will because their cunning leaders know how to keep the people calm and happy. You just seem biased because you are caught up in an issue that concerns you and impacts your life in many different ways, and the whole tumult that comes from your involvement in this issue makes it seem like everyone else around you is also involved. The average American doesn't know and doesn't care about us, otherwise you wouldn't have to raise any awareness or be persistent with the representatives.
We will be dealt with when the time is right or when we start fucking things up. We are no concern for anyone since we are model "citizens" and pay taxes. Now switch your attention to the actual immigration system, border violence, relentless illegal immigration, daily deaths of people trying to cross over, there simply are some issues that have greater intrinsic precedence and DREAM isn't one of them. If we solved everything from a moral perspective America would collapse.
