Just be a bad ass and take the LSAT raw with no prep. But seriously, take a class if you can. The consensus seems to be that Testmasters is the best prep program. However, their availability is somewhat limited depending on where you live. If you can, take a class with them. Their founder, Robin Singh, is alleged to have scored a 180 (the highest you can score) a record 11 times.

Of course you could always go with the two giants, Kaplan or Princeton Review. There are pros and cons to each program. Kaplan is the only company with officially licensed past LSAT exams, so if you are looking for the closest thing to an LSAT to practice with, go with Kaplan. I went with Kaplan as well, and they tend to be cheaper than Princeton Review (although not by much). From what I've heard, Princeton Review has better instructors, but of course, that opinion might be different depending on who you speak with.

yea i heard testmasters was the best...kaplan is everywhere tho...and they give fin aid.

kaplan is the class i took and it is offered through a separate company..they do have online stuff tho..which i think is not as good as actually going to class..but thats just me

okay first i would reccomend you take a prep test...and see how you score if its 160 and above then is say you are golden and maybe you can do without taking a class...

if not then go take the class...it is worth every single penny...

The LSAT books are great...but you need answers and explanations in order to get better...
the practice they give you is invaluable though.

The next question is where do I get the answer and explanations package?

Hi guys,

I don't mean to revive an old post, but I'm getting a little disheartened about the prospects of law school and becoming a lawyer in general. In SO many ways I know I am completely privileged to even have the means to go to law school, so I can understand if I get flack for being a 'whiny rich' person (I'm not...rich that is ), but please understand that despite a potential law degree, I'm still in the same boat as the rest of you highly educated, smart kids.

So I'm planning to take the Sept 2009 test, but what worries me the most isn't the LSAT itself surprisingly. As hard as the test is, it just doesn't seem to compare to everything else that we Dreamers have to deal with afterwards. Can a Dreamer here who is either in law school now/ know someone who is or have graduated from law school please answer the following questions for me, so that I can know if studying for the LSAT is even worth it???

1. Seeing how it's almost necessary to get a job at a law firm during the summers between each year in law school, have you been able to find a job? I hear summer law jobs pay, which you know... is a problem.
2. Are you planning on becoming a lawyer in America? If so, are we all just waiting for the Dream Act to pass for this to happen? Or would law firms help you change your citizenship status since you're being employed by them? (...clearly I'm ignorant)
3. Bar exam: Can we take it?
4. Scholarships: Admitting a cash cow into law school I feel is wholly different from saying, 'why yes we shall grant you a scholarship." Are we allowed to apply for (and accept) scholarships?
5. Schools: (Maybe this one would be best sent through PM??) What schools admit Dreamers? I ask because some schools explicitly state that they do not accept Dreamers, but there are other schools that aren't as explicit and toss applications to the side nonetheless. I'd personally like to save that application fee money up for some other school that would be willing to accept me. Of course, geographic stereotyping (i.e., red states) already predisposes me to hate the south so I assume many of those schools wouldn't like me anyway.
6. Okay I'll admit. I'm vain. By schools, what I really mean are like the dream schools (HYS, Columbia, NYU, basically Top 25), but if I can get in anywhere, that would be pretty amazing too.

I would greatly, greatly appreciate any help I can get on these topics either on the board or through PM. Thank you all so, so much. Man, this was a long post... sorry.
