Hello all, I am new to this forum, and after spending all day reading through these threads, my eyes have opened WIDE. I knew that there were others like me, but couldn't imagine such a group of people feeling just as disabled and frustrated as I do. It excites me to see that so many of you are this enthusiastic about these personal and serious matters and so knowledgable about the political aspecs of our situation. I am honored to be part of this, and I believe and hope that the DREAM act will pass and soon.

I feel a responsibility to myself and everyone reading this, that I introduce myself...

My parents' business drove them to immigrate to the US when I was 8, and through the years their business visitor's visas remain unscaved. Little did they realize that a time bomb was ticking ever so silently under their noses. They proceeded to renew their visas as needed every couple of years until the period of time that I turned 21. Before my change of status from an E-2 (children of business visitor) to a F-1, my father's B-1 had expired due to the incompetence of our immigration lawyer and other unfortunate circumstances out of my personal control. Concenquently, my change of status was denied, and I was rejected from the university that I dearly desired to transfer into. NOw I am unable to work, go back to school, or even renew my driver's license. I always wanted that 10% discount card at Macy's, but with no ssn, I have to say "no, thanks" everytime.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of our stories are similar. But I thought I would share a peice of mine with you. It's just a reminder. I am another. I live in Northern California. I'm here. Still. I never intended to live in a foreign country unlawfully. I just want to be accepted as the American that I am.

So whats the news on the DREAM act 2009?? Has anything been done to move forward with this thing?? My family and I have been looking in every loop-hole to get my status cleared and I am starting to be very frustrated.

I don't believe in unlawful marriage. I'd rather take action myself. I'd like to get together with some of you maybe on chat or something. We need a plan. I'm sure with all these bright minds we can come up with an idea. We must be professional. We must be competent. We must break through.
