Here are some of the stuff that's relevant to us:

Address the Undocumented. John McCain will address the fact that we have a large number undocumented individuals living in the United States and working in our economy:
  • All undocumented individuals will be required to enroll in a program to resolve their status.
  • This program will use background checks to identify criminal aliens for prosecution and deportation.
    • Assure that the remaining undocumented immigrants learn English, pay back taxes and fines, and pass a citizenship course as part of a path to legal status.
    • Guarantee that no person here illegally receives a green card before those that have been legally waiting outside the country.
    • Do a proper accounting of all social security numbers used and attained illegally, rectifying the accounts and alerting those whose identity had been compromised.
  • The program will also ensure that all undocumented aliens either leave or follow the path to legal residence. America cannot permit a permanent category of individuals that do not have recognized status – a permanent second class.
  • In addition, the program will provide a system that is fair, humane, realistic, and ensures the rights of the individual and families will be protected.
    • Ensure that families are reunited.
    • Address in an expedited manner the status of individuals brought here illegally as minors through no will or intention of their own.

at times i feel like supporting mccain because a have a gut feeling that if he were elected president he would go back to his "Maverick" status and support
immigration reform as he once did before election season. but i cant risk it.
so i am still supporting Obama.

I'm calling bs as well. Obama has went out of his way to mention DREAM numerous times, where as when someone asked McCain about it, despite saying yes he had the deer-in-the-headlights look about the whole thing. Not to mention he bloody picked Palin as his running mate, that alone speaks volumes on his integrity. While Obama is no saint and obviously neither candidate will deliver 100% on their promises, if i were in the voting position I'd be gambling my vote on Barack.

If we have wait for those outside of the country applying for green cards, who knows when we will get our status fixed.

shit, i'd wait on conditional residency if i knew i would be getting my green card. please boo. beggars can't be choosers.

id be willing to wait in the back of the line. besides, if i met someone who i loved and wanted to marry who just so happened to be a usc, i'd be jumping to the front of the line. soooo ummmmm. yeah. =]

i'm happy with some form of status, cause let me just say. not having any kind of status sucks old man balls.

I think DREAM actually stands a better chance of passing with McCain than with Obama. Obama would try to pass it his first year but McCain would wait a year or 2 but he could bring moderate republicans along with him.

I still love Obama and we should realize how fortunate we are to have these 2 as our leaders. Both sympathize with us and in their own way are rooting for us. They just have to deal with the political reality that is the uneducated masses that watch Lou Dobbs.
