hey all, this is sookyung with nakasec. after meeting with rep. berman's staff, it was recommended that we weigh in by submitting in writing our thoughts about how to specifically strengthening the dream act to increase eligibility. in writing this letter, we definitely had in context the political climate and the history of the dream act. at the end, we wrote about the four things 1) bring back community service provision as a third means for legalization (original dream act), 2) no age caps, 3) change from 15 years or younger to 17 years or younger (technical definition of minor is under 1, and 4) re-instate language that encourages states to define in-state tuition eligibility for undocumented students. i guess that we'll see soon what the final bill language will be.

This certainly leaves room for compromise, which is what politics is all about!

Sookyung.....I thought the language in the last DREAM ACT referenced 16 or younger not 15. Can anyone verify that for me please?
