Nothing new in this article but more confirmation that Dream act will be apart of Comprehensive legislation.
Quote:
“To cut them off at this point is unrealistic,” said Mark Hayes, a spokesman for Lugar. “They could offer a lot more if they had the opportunity to attend college.”

Hayes emphasized that the DREAM Act is intended to be part of a broader immigration policy. Hayes said Lugar supports a comprehensive package of immigration reform, including increased border security, a temporary worker program and realistic solutions to immigration status.

“We should not punish children for their parents’ mistakes,” Durbin said in a press release. “That is not the American way. The DREAM Act says to these kids, ‘America will give you a chance. We will give you the opportunity to earn your way to legal status if you work hard and play by the rules.’”

There is no bloody set date for anything, we have to be patient and wait for DREAM to be brought up for a vote. Go search a little bit.

Besides, you're still in high school, you have time, unlike many people here. Consider yourself lucky. At least luckier.

Good luck to them with CIR then. Who knows, they might get it done this year... and if not, well I'm sure Dream will be able to get attached to something else.

Hey gonzalam, Don't give up just yet. I was in junior high school years ago and I was worrying just like you are right now. Let me tell you that you are very young. I guarantee you that Dream will pass before your graduation. You are in the perfect position so please don't give up. Have faith and everything will be taken care off. Just concentrate on your studies so that you have better chances when applying to colleges.

Oh come on don't give up yet. Your days are barely starting. You are still in High School enjoy it while you can. Like Daff said some of us are way older than you and we would really like the "Dream Act" to pass soon. We have work so hard for everything and all we want is a chance.By the way nice point you are right we where brought here it was not our choice.

Please don't despair.

1)The DREAM ACT has been(re)introduced on March 26, 2009 in the U.S. SENATE BY SENATOR RICHARD DURBIN OF ILLINOIS. It seems that there is a majority in favor of the act, and hopefully something will be put to the vote in the next few months... And Obama is for it too!

2) Finish high-school and apply to your local community college! That's something I believe you can do even if you are illegal. I know a lot of people who did (in California) You can chose to get into a 2-year full-time program, or if you need to work, part-time, or if you can, get prepared to transfer later to a University... Community college is generally cheap and there may be a way you can get your fees waived. I don't know about legal status for fee waiver, I only know that your family income has to be below a certain amount (it waries from state to state). By the time you are ready to transfer to a higher college, let's pray that something will have happened with the DREAM ACT. Or maybe you'll get married... No matter what, you have nothing to lose and what you'll gain is a higher education. EDUCATION IS SOMETHING THAT CAN NEVER BE TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU!

Hey, don't worry. I am a senior in high school and I am going to college no problem. There are TONS of colleges that are sympathetic with are situation and they do everything in their power to help. If its the money you worry about there are hundreds of scholarships both from private companies and colleges that will pay for your education. Some of these colleges include USC, Occidental College, Pitzer College, Claremont McKenna College, Pomona College, Loyola Marymount University, and more. Keep your GPA high, do as much community service as you possibly can and get involved in your community, that is what they look for. The last thing you can do, is waste years of your life being discouraged and hopeless. That is not the way to enjoy the last years of high school. I did that for a few months and it was absolute hell. I was so afraid I wasn't going to be able to fulfill my dreams and go back to my native country that I didn't enjoy what was going around me. Yet, I turned out fine, I am going to a college that I love and in a few years we'll all be good.

Keep your chin high, be proud, and keep on going.
