^ I completely agree with you, it is not necessary for anyone to have an accusatory tone when we can't help being "Legal DREAMies."

I only recently obtained a student visa, and yes, I would have to go home after graduation because I am studying film and political science. The advantage that I do have is that even if my visa expires, as a citizen of the European Union, I can live in the United States provided I exit every 90 days.

But even as visa holders, we are still closer to undocumented students than we are to American citizens, in my opinion.

Hmmm...If it comes to that you might want to be careful !

More than a few EU citizens I know have had their VWP privileges revoked because it seemed like they were living here,it is also not easy to get a visitor's visa after VWP has been revoked since both VWP at the Point-of-entry & the visitor's visa approval guidelines @ the Embassy are basically the same, since both automatically assume immigrant intent.

No worries, I've done it before. Thank you for the information though.

Hey guys, I don't mean to sound accusatory, and I'm not trying to create any divisions. I'm just trying to get the point across that a lot of people on this site would love to be in your place. That's all.

sorry guys, I've been busy with school and martial arts training. [I was thrown into mats via my sparring partner... my spine hurts lol]

Okay, I can tell you guys that we 'legal dreamies' are in better place. We can get driver licenses, work on campus, travel, and blah blah. Let me tell you though. I havent visited my country, South Korea in 9 years because i have to serve 2 yr military duty. You might ask me "how come you didnt serve it?" well I came here when I was 14. Too young to join military. I'm probably the only Korean in this forum so far, so I will explain this.

South Korean government stated that all males b/w age of 18-35 has to serve in military for 24-36 months. [but now, people usually serve 24 months unless you are in air force or navy.] The reason why i havent gone back to serve my military duty is because its hard to get another F-1 visa for me after I finish my duty in Korea. I dont know why but US government is very strict about this. However, if a student ALREADY served military duty and apply F-1 visa to study in US, usually they issue a visa without many problems. In simple words, it is hard for me to get another visa after I go back to serve in military because I 'gave up' my study

And about the H1B visa... usually they do lottery because the competition is very HIGH. I read an article which stated that last year's lottery competition was 3 vs 1. A good news is that once you get an H1 Visa, you can extend your stay up to 6 years. Many H1 holders start their green card process as soon as they receive this H1 visa. HOWEVER!

You have to find a sponsor company. The company has to have 20+ employers, must show good tax reports (in consecutive years), must explain to US labor department why the company needs YOU. So... because of reasons above, many companies dont want to sponsor H1visa because its just annoying, headache... blah blah. In addition, there are many scammers who use H1visa sponsorship as a 'bait'. Another thing is that while you have an H1 visa, you cannot change your job. Which means, you have to work for the same company till you get your green card. So what if you have troubles with your boss, co-workers, and etc? too bad. suck it up. What if your company goes out of business? you become illegal.

Lastly, to get H1 visa, a person has to have bachelor's degree. That is the most important requirement. Im almost ready to get my associate's degree and can get my bachelor's within a year and half but I can't because im having a financial struggle. Thanks to this economy. I dont know what I can do for now.

^You're not the only Korean here, in fact, it seems like every korean guy here has complained in the exact same manner you have, countless times. It sucks yes, I'm in the same boat, but it's nothing to complain about compared to others who have home countries in far worse shape.

No offense, but everytime you post/talk on dap chat, all you ever talk about is MMA or how you're into martial arts... yes we've heard it a million times now and it's annoying as hell.

^Since you're a new comer, I should ask if you have signed up for selective service yet? That's something you need to do asap if you haven't already.

K-Man, I think non-immigrants are not eligible for selective service....or perhaps they are just exempt. Does anybody know ?

Here is the link: http://www.immihelp.com/immigration/...e-service.html
