my story, so far,

Hi, my name is Vilma and i came at the age of one from El salvador. I've been living in California for 22 years and every day of my life it was an amazing day until the day I wanted to get my permit at 16. Like many of you I did not understand what my parents were trying to say that I was undocumented. However, soon after I understood I felt like I was not the same like my friends from H.S. But even worse when I found out that I couldn't go to college because i didn't have a Social Security. That did not stop me, I was able to apply as a AB-540 student and paid for my college tuition as a resident. I recently graduated from SMC with a A.A degree, it took me a while because of payment issues but I was able to do it. This fall I start at a CSU and I more than happy that I got accepted. I really hope the Dream Act passes because it will give me and thousands of other hopes of becoming what they want to be!
