some quotes that might help lift your spirit up

Many of the great achievements of the world were accomplished by tired and discouraged men who kept on working.”

“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.”

Never let go of hope. One day you will see that it all has finally come together. What you have always wished for has finally come to be. You will look back and laugh at what has passed and you will ask yourself... 'How did I get through all of that?”

Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.”

Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don't give up.”

HOPE THAT HELPS! KEEP FIGHTING GUYS, BE STRONG =) HANG ON!

do yourself a favor, look for a job, make some new friends and enroll yourself in a community college. stop staying in your house feeling sad and depressed. everyone knows what your going through but that doesn't mean you can't have a normal happy life..go out there and have fun.

And you can use a passport to get into any lounge/club.

Also... ahem, try some new stuff with the boyfriend. Just kidding(not really)
Great advice...

Your idea of normality isn't kin with what its like to be illegal. Being illegal is far from being normal. If we were living a normal life, why would most of us even care about the Dream act then? Everyones situation is different, some worst, some better, dont assume because your happy, everyone else's situation allows them to be happy. Some of us have citizen family members or spouses, or bfs/gfs to help our life's go smoother, some of us have nobody, and everyone in our family is illegal. Some of us live in states where its harder if your illegal. Some of us don't. None of these differences makes us better than the other, but it sure does shape our life's differently, making some happy, and some unhappy.

I agree with you, to say that we can have a normal life with the current situation we are all in is to say there is not an issue in the first place. Thus, our depression and current situation is due to our own creation.

Sure we control our thoughts and feelings, but when others expectations of us and for ourselves are limited by the restrictions placed on our life to succeed by being able to work, getting a higher education, having relationships with others without fear of putting yourself out there, other life resources, only then can goals towards a "normal life" can be fully expressed.

What is "normal" anyways? it's all relative. This struggle between whats culturally considered acceptable or not, what's main stream or alternative. Our evaluation of what's "normal" is varied, and seem to be then not linked to our self evaluation of our individual situations but done when we compare our current situation to others that are better off than ourselves or those not as fortunate as us.

First of all i never assumed!! i know what it's like having ICE barge in my house and taking the most important person in my life. yeah i became depressed and suicidal. i wanted to give up but i knew i wouldn't gain anything if i stayed in my house all day crying my heart out. i put myself in school, worked two jobs and had to take care 3 siblings and my mom and i did it for 3 years with nobody's help. i stayed in touch with my friends, none of them knows about my situation. i have a little sister who's getting her hvac license, working 2 jobs and taking care of the family all by herself without my help. i'll admit it's not fair for a young person to have that much responsibility but she is happy .she does hate the fact that she can't drive. i know everyone's situation is very different and some might have it worse then others. all im saying is, you shouldn't lock yourself in your house hoping for things to get better just like that. YOU CAN STILL GO OUT AND HAVE FUN!!

It is pretty tough living a confined life. I'm driving myself crazy thinking about what's going to happen if the Dream Act doesn't pass and I'm stuck dependent off my parents and friends.

If I can't get a job and I'm done with college I don't see myself doing much other than my parents making me live with them. And I have a bad situation at home as it is, so being even a couple miles away in an apt because of college is better than being at home.
