So, my bf's parents keep pressing for me to call my country's consulate to see if there's anyway I can get a new/renew passport. Yet, I'm weary of the idea since on the site I would need to provide proof of a valid visa.

Yet, I did some research and though I'm not from the Philippines, their consulate website did offer this:

I am an undocumented Philippine citizen (TNT). Can I apply for a passport? Will the Consulate help me?

The Consulate helps and protects ALL Filipinos, regardless of their immigration status. A Filipino who has no legal immigration status in the United States deserves the same assistance as that accorded to a legal resident.

So I sent this in the email to MY country's consulate and they said I could still get help from the consulate possibly.

A) Should I even try? Hoping that it would at least give me a passport to use if anything.

My dad came on a student visa. There was physical abuse in my family and my dad got kicked out of the grad school he came here to attend. (Which makes me sort of angry cause had I known earlier my mom could have gotten a U-visa) I have a SSN but it says void for work and have been here since I was 2, I'm going to turn 22 this year...

B) So I'm confused if I entered with or without inspection... or if that even matters.

I think you can renew your passport. My parents renew the passports for my whole family and it got approved even though we overstayed our tourist visas.

If you came in with any kind of visa, I think that is entering with inspection. Entering without inspection is crossing the border.

Hope this tidbit of info helped.

I'm EWI and I've never had any kind of documentation. I'm also from mex. I contacted the local consulate here in the US and I asked if I could get a passport even though I never had a visa to start with. They said Yes and I went and got it. My passport is not stamped obviously but at least it's a valid form of ID that I have only used once to get into a club hehe. =) Message me if you need some help.

You should be able to get a passport from your home country which you say is Malaysia right? why not contact the Malaysian Consulate first that would make more sense in my opinion and your legal status in the U.S shouldn't matter in applying a passport at least that's what i think.

That gives me some relief.
Yeah I emailed them and they said that I could try anyways.
I dunno I'll see if I can give it a shot. Having SOME form of ID would be nice.
