Wow, this site has change from the last time I came here months ago.

Either way, I keep on seeing groups start up trying to target senators, representatives and governors, but I think many fail to realize that voters are also important. There is some serious amount of misinformation about the DREAM Act. People are outraged because they are opposed to paying tax dollars "to give illegals free college education" (someone wrote in the newspaper opinion section yesterday). A week prior to that there were a series of responses regarding the preferential treatment ICE was giving to certain classes of immigrants, basically those that had some process pending or students that might benefit from the DREAM Act where not be imprisoned and deported, preferring preferential deportation procedures for people that had extensive criminal records or committed serious or heinous criminal acts. Every response was negative towards that cause. Most saw it giving preference to certain kinds of criminals. We are not criminals, the idea was to deport people that are actually committing serious crimes first before those that were found through minor infractions and had clean records, but it did not mean people that did not commit crimes would not be deported, they would just be placed at the end of the line in case something does happen..

This is just a sample over two days of opinions on a newspaper in Miami, a city that is mostly immigrant to begin with and where a republican candidate lost after switching to worse-then-arizona law tactics on immigrants. Where are the supporters on this opinion sections of the newspapers? We have to recall that the voter has to be a citizen, and unfortunately the supporters involves people that can't vote because they are either PR, or undocumented, and we need to reach to the voters and show them that the CIR and DA benefits them, not just slightly but significantly.

I propose maybe trying to bring back some leverage on places where people post opinions, demonstrate the good the CIR and specially the DA would bring to this country and how it will benefit everyone not just the people that would be covered by the CIR and the DA.

There are people where people in our situation that are coming out for the first time in question and answer sites or opinion sites are being shredded to pieces by people against the DA and they do not know about this site, I fear the worst for those people with the amount of misinformation that they are being fed by anti-immigrants, including bad tactics which could get them deported faster and banned from this site on false information about what they should do. (for example answers.yahoo.com where trolls take advantage of anonymity to post damaging information, i have been fortunate to get a hold of a handful of people that needed correct information urgently, one person was even planning on leaving the country thinking they were doing good for their status when alternate solutions that involved them staying here and fixing their status here existed).

sorry for the rant-ish response, but this has been frustrating me for the past week especially. I just wish I could get the people that posted those opinions and reason with them, rectify the errors of what they believe the CIR and the DA is about and what it involves.

I agree! I have been having a twitter battle with this stupid tweeter who keeps spreading lies about the DREAM Act. They have tons of followers and they are saying the DREAM Act gives "free instate tuition", which I think makes us look bad, because many will interpret it as free tuition. Here is his link: http://twitter.com/NumbersUSA

That twitter account belongs to numbersusa.com a site that supposedly measures the numbers of immigrants or potential immigrants and an organization that favors an environmentally sustainable and economically just America.
And this is what they think or make themselves think about DREAM http://www.numbersusa.com/content/nu...t-must-be-stop
There's also this Brittanicus, who has copied the info on ^ this link and is posting it as comments on many articles talking about DREAM, talk about misinforming the American people.

Well this is the US.. The media distorts nearly every bill.. You all are just realizing it now because you've payed close attention to the DA, but think about all the other bills you really didn't research. How many of the things you heard were outright lies?
