Dude, we all have been there. I find it easier for high school kids because they have more scholarships available to them. If your parents didn't file their taxes every year, you guys know that you guys should've since it's a great way to demonstrate that you guys have been living here all those years--back where I used to live, people would even offer free tax filing services because they wanted the hispanic community to file their taxes, so now you know.
Specially for private colleges, because they ask for your parents income and they want proof.
It's possible to go to college, it is, even to graduate school. You just have to be patient and really put on your A game. We all have been there, and we all have felt like giving up, and just take anything that comes, but we don't.
So stop whining, and just do it, because no one is going to say "oh poor little man, he's just had it hard his whole life, you know? So let's give him this scholarship."

Dear student,
Never give up on education no matter what kind of circumstance you are in. Check the public schools in your state and see if they offer in-state tuition. Private schools are unfortunately out in this case. For the application, call the school and tell them your situation.

oh and btw, tell your parents they'll want to file their taxes soon. Apparently my dad didn't do his for 2 years. On top of having to pay the late taxes he got a crazy 40,000 dollar late fee.

So if you are worried about your families financial difficulties all of you better move back or start filing those taxes before they come after you.

I would not say that private schools are out, there are many that would offer aid and even full scholarship, specially does with huge endowment, such as the Ivy league, they are not easy to get into but they exists.

They are also more likely to offer a scholarship that you will be able to accept then a public school if the applicant happens to attend a school that does not offer any assistance such as offering classes for in-state tuition for undocumented students. Unfortunately the majority of states will charge undocumented students out-of-state tuition and if the OP decides to somehow get in-state tuition in such schools despite the fact it could be considered fraud and would be asking for trouble.

And there is a smaller chance that the Private school will cut your scholarship if a law comes into effect banning Public universities to give aid to Undocumented students.
If i was the OP, i would look into private colleges, rather than public schools. There was a list that someone posted about colleges that give aid to international/undocumented students.
Get with it.

Yes, I get that, but how?
My parents refuse to sign any forms. They literally can't answer any questions.

If your parents refuse to sign any forms, go talk to your guidance counselor about your specific case to see what your options are. Call the schools you're applying to and ASK. Don't just bitch at us.

Yes, that's easy to say and most likely difficult to do, but for fuck's sakes, don't let your parents fuck up your future. Fuck it up yourself if you must. My mother fucked up my future so badly that I had to move thousands of miles away in an already failing attempt to fix it.

How is your future fucked? And how are they fucking up my future? They're gonna be paying for my school there. They're not moving with me.

I know we are coming off as too strong and like dickheads but if we would've known what we know know back when we were your age or at your stage, we would've been in different situations and probably could have gone to a college more of a choice so we try to really urge people at your age/stage to do the most they can. I dont know the reason why your parents won't sign any documents, maybe cause they have fear that the govt might come after them, but you really need to convince them to cooperate--tell them there is no way of getting accepted w/o those documents, make up something. The govt doesnt give out ITINs just to deport people.

I had a full rant written out in response to this post, but I decided not to post it because it was just so goddamned bitter and angry.

I responded to your original post hastily and emotionally. No, your parents are most likely not planning to fuck up your future. They want the best for you, but you know that the road to hell is paved with best intentions. If they truly want the best for you, they will do their damned best to answer those forms. It's your future that they're playing with.

The only thing I can say is that while it's nice to have money remitted to you from the US, especially if you're living in a Third World country, it does little to alleviate the actual situation. You're still in the Third World, even if you're rolling in dollars.
