I wish I had an SSN (even if not valid for work). I could use it whenever companies would ask for credit check.

So you only signed up for Selective Service and then a SS card came without you expecting it?

It depend on the employee that takes your application. For people with visas, they usually give them a license till the day their visa expires. Seeing as you have a valid ssn, you could get a license, but you'd have to prove you're in the country legally. That's how it works in CA anyway.

Why not try transferring your WI one to a FL one. Since you already have the ID + ssn, they wouldn't ask you to see another form of ID. And then, if you get the FL ID, try for the license.

Point is, avoid showing your expired visa. The SSN can be verified by them within a matter of minutes and that doesn't show whether you are legal/illegal.

If it's start with 9 then it's a ITIN # not SSN. Also, in Fl you need to have a legal status in order to get any kind of ID. Now they don't even accepts the document from homeland stating that the case is pending or anything. They need solid proof, very tough now. The other thing is even if you have valid SSN, you just cannot work with that until u show some proof of legal status.
There are so many people , who have valid SSN and now for some reason lost their status, so they cannot work. Just wanted to clear that.
