I would think that contacting a Senator for assistance would merit a humanitarian case or one in which the individual doesn't have any other avenue for legalisation.

So the issue seems that she believes she shouldn't have to wait to get immigrant status; not that she is ineligible. She will be eligible for a visa thru her parents, grandmother, and can also apply as an advanced degree holder. She also has had employment authorization all of this time; a valid SS number...essentially the same benefits as a permament resident. The only caveat is that she cannot leave the country. But if you're fighting to STAY in this country because your life and family are here, the fact that you cannot travel should be the least of your concerns.

So...the issue comes back to not wanting to wait for her preference category. I don't know; she seems to come from a more privileged background than the majority of Dreamers. Actually, the purpose of the Dream Act is to legalize those who grew up in this county and who have no other way of legalization (other than marriage, of course).
WOW. If I took this forum seriously, I would probably rip you a new one with my words.
Dont you EVER question what Prerna has done for this movement.

not to mention questioning her legal decisions, she is probably one of the most capable dreamers that could fight the system if not the most capable based on her considerable experience and actual political reach. She has been quoted by so many papers directly and indirectly, quoted by politicians, even I have quoted her work back when we were trying to find the latest up to the minute information during the lame duck session about what was going on with the dream act. She beat every source I could think off in getting information out by at least a couple days, how she managed to know what where going to be some of the changes in the DA that ultimately tried to go through the senate I don't know.

Appalled, but don't really have the time to rip anyone to shreds. I went to law school to learn how to better fight the system with its own tools to protect our communities, not use it on my own communities.

You can also help by signing and circulating this petition

If you are in D.C., hope you can come to a fundraiser. It says proceeds go to my legal defense but they are actually going to DreamActivist to keep it running.

....and what exactly has the so called Dream Act movement accomplished? Because from where I sit, the Dream Act still hasn't been passed, and it's been 10 years since it's first introduction, and the so called movement couldn't even convince the senators who sponsored the original bill to vote for it. Virtually all senators voted down party lines, hell we actually lost some from the Democratic party, and the whole vote at the end of 2010 was a ridiculous ploy; the Democrats knew they did not have the votes but Reid wanted to look good.

I am very disappointed in some of the negative attitudes I have seen in this thread. A fellow Dreamer is in deportation proceedings and this is what you call support?

I encourage everyone to do what they can to help Prerna. I have seen her hard work and deserves the chance to stay in the US.

selective processing , they got her to shut her up. People might look at it some other way but during a campaign year with her running down the president and gaining supporters you make your decision but she made to much noise. So they get rid of her.

If anything, her making too much noise would only act to her benefit. It makes it easier to seek help and activism in her support because she is more known. However, I do feel she is more known around the dreamer community, not the media community like Gaby Pacheco, but the amount of stuff that she has done and been active with makes her a dreamer with considerable resources to defend herself against the legal system of this country. In My Opinion, I don't think the government could have selected a worse dreamer to attempt to deport, or perhaps this is their way to actually rattle the cages and ensure this issue does not die, I cannot imagine why they would attempt to put her in deportation proceedings. Unlike other dreamers, her family is here legally, which further highlights and makes her story a more compelling example of the issues with the immigration system when she may be deported to a country she left as a minor and be broken apart from her family legally in this country family.
