^^^ lol.... Dude A FEW (so all you guys don't start burning bras and writing to john quinones) of those with papers do act elitist pri**s. This has to be the 5th time saying this. GET OVER YOURSELVES! It's not about you! It's about marketing the dream act properly! Here's an example....Barack Obama vs snoop dogg....who's gonna be just a little more marketable to the general public? Both are black so that has nothing to do with it, no accents either. So why would one be a better fit to be the face of ANYTHING? I mean it's really the elephant in the room.

You know something, I went to a community college and most of the hispanic kids who were either born or came here at at very young age and who took the english test failed it... It's not difficult to find these kinds of kids in ESL classes at community colleges.

Maybe that answers your question..

You don't know the lifestyle I had back in my country, you don't know the reasons why I came here. Everyone here thinks that just because we come from Latin America, we are ignorant, they think that we barely know how to read.

So what's the difference between you and me? The accent? I can take classes and suppress it. But why would I want to do that? It makes me ME and i want to keep it that way.

You may not be racist, but you definitely have the wrong idea of what makes someone American. You want to keep feeding their prejudice.

It's almost as saying lets interview those illegal immigrants who are blond, blue eyed and have an american accent only.
No, no you misunderstood me and you are confused for sure. But know this, I will come back with an explanation that will make it less confusing for you. OK……..

Another thing I want to point out is that the word "racist" is overused in this forum. There are way too many people on the internet ready at a moments notice to spot something that they can turn against you and call you racist, when in fact they are the racists for pursuing these agendas. Even if someone finds a sentence offensive or thinking it’s in racist terms, calling someone a racist is never the answer regardless of what someone says, (even if they are racist).

Calling someone a racist right away when spotting something that offends you and your background race history would just cause the person to not like you anymore ( if that’s the original meaning). Now obviously that should not be their objective. The person that finds the comment concerning should first ask if you worded your statement wrong or at least have some patience to try and turn your views around if possible with kindness. If someone just says “You’re a racist!” well, their lack of education / patience / manners shows right there.

We have to be better organized like a business. Everyone has their role, theres PR, accounting etc etc. Get all the "DREAM" sites on board doing the same campaigns so we aren't all over the place. The people in PR decide like "Hey Maria's story is good, but I think that it would be better if we placed her on FOX that day for the interview because of her ability to get opponents in catch 22's while being nothing but polite." just an example. Get the dreamers with the PHD's in on it etc. There's so many things we should be doing. We have to find a way to separate dream act from CIR. Sucks, but were always categorized together. We are completely different! we have been here the majority of our lives, are assimilated, went to school and can actually contribute, where as the people coming from CIR are "just give me papers cuz". Where is the incentive for any american to be pro dream when thats all they see? That's unacceptable.

Almost all the points you made in your post are true and correct I agree with them..

But you said it your self it's been 10 years and it's going to be another 10 if we don't do something deferent.

It's nothing against you in fact if I new you I would have probably asked you out on a date already..

It's about presenting the American people with an image of themselves. Since your talking about colonialism then I know your smart enough to know how we the brown people have been categorize and made into the enemy do to the Mexican American war..

Even though it's been centuries the mentality is the same we are the enemy and we need to change their mentality.

I don't know why this is such a sensitive issue yea maybe we should only get blond green eye girls to represent the dream act i'm sure that would be very effective..

By the way how the hell is it fare that your friend came here at 17 and is now legal I've been here since 5 and many others since 2 and 1.. I guess our parents really screwed us on this one....I don't know your friend but i'm pretty sure I'm not going to like him and his snobby elitist attitude.. I bet he has an accent too..
So, I'm blond with green eyes. Do you really think throwing me in front of a camera would gain us some points? I don't think your racist, but I just don't see it as realistic. How much could it really help, it just seems to me that most of the politicians have already got their minds made up. I realize that it would represent a different image, but I hate the idea of reducing the dream act to image. Don't get me wrong though, if the chance ever arises I'll speak out, I'm not going to give up on this and I'll do whatever I can whether or not I accomplish anything.

We could hire modeling agencies to have models at our disposable and make sure the attractive outnumber the unattractive. Trick American into believing we are the most fuckable group of illegal immigrants they have ever laid their eyes on.
I thoroughly enjoyed this thread, this especially.

You shouldn't be looking for someone else to be attractive. Why don't you step up to the plate? I think you could pull it off.

I"m not saying an American should look a certain way but why can't they interview more American looking dreamers ( I know that sounds bad. But I think that would help change the mind of more Americans as they see we are like them).

I feel really bad because i'm hating on these other dreamers knowing i'm the same as them... But I'm certain I can claim i'm very much American in all but paper.

It's just my opinion guys I hope i'm not racist or nothing. I'd like to hear your thoughts...
Racism is hate, I truely hope that you don't allow yourself to hate or spread hate. When you do that it is what you get back in return every time. African Americans have faced this type of journalism for years do you ever wonder when they talk about a crime in the bad part of town they pick the dumbest hood rat they can find to interview. The press does this and I am not sure if it is on purpose or there just preordain to think that way.
