Hey, My name is azucena fonseca garcia susy( i go by susy) , many can automacticly can tell I am mexican due to the name. I was born in guadalajara, mexico and came with my whole family ( uncles, aunts, grandparents, cousins, mom) to america when I was 1 years old. Im currently 15 now and am I freshman in high school in TX. For my final exam in debate im proud to say I am doing a persuassive speech on the DREAM Act(: though I don’t remember much of my life in mexico I still am proud to say I am mexican and no one can take that from me but that doesn’t mean I should be judge for it either. Luckily my family did come here legally but with a MAJOR sacrifice. My hero and person I look up to the most is my Grandfather. My mother is the oldest of 5 children and when she was only 10 years old when my grandfather came to america leaving his family behind hoping to find a better job and support his family. He sacrificed not seeing his family except one month every year for 12 years so he could bring them legally. Thanks to him I have a great opportunity to a way better life than I would in mexico, I love my education and can never be more grateful for everything he did and all the oppourtunities america has to offer. Im proud to say my mother is the first in our family to graduate from college and has a masters degree in nursing. The DREAM act wont even benefit me but I am still all for it! America was made on the principles that everyone has the rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of hapiness. We lay our country on the foundations of justice. People who are agaisnt the act are basicly agaisnt the act of what america was founded on, theese kids should have the right to pursuit of hapiness since they been living in america they arent getting justice at all if they cant have the same right every other american kid has just because of the color of their skin or their background they come to america and this is their home they should be traeted like it! My heart goes out to everyone who really suffers due to current immigration laws. Though I am legal, I still get very racial comments from ignorant people who when I say im from mexico automactly think I “ swam to america, came illegaly, ran across the border” or that my parents “work in fields, don’t speak english, my father works in construction and I have multiple siblings.” I cant imagine the struggles others face, but just know you’re not alone! People are here willing to pick you up and help you out through the thick and thin. If you ever need anyone to talk to our just listen to you don’t be afraid to contact me! Don’t give up or lose faith and no matter what smile through it all(: I promise to live my life to the fulest and you guys are my inspiration to succed to my fullest potential in life, I will do it all in the names of those who cant and are struggling to! one day we will succed and the DREAM Act will be passed!

My name is Mildreth, I am a junior at Inglewood high. I was born in Mexico, my parents brought me to the united states when I was around 5 or 6. Everything was new to me, the language, the food, the buildings, the people, the cars. everything! I started school here, and since the very moment I stepped in school it's been very difficult for me. When I came here I didn't know English at all, in school I once got in trouble for saying the "B" word, I honestly didn't know what it meant but I still got in trouble. After that day I had a speech teacher - I think that what it's called- and she thought me the new language. After others began to understand who I was -"not from here"- I became an outcast. Even my so called friends began to tell me, "You won't make it far you know." or "You won't be able to go to college because you don't have papers." I never blamed my parents for bringing me into this cruel, to me then, place. I knew they did it for my future, for my better future. Ever since I can remember I have been an Honor student, A's & B's, and up to today I've raise to the top #1 of my graduating class (2012). I have proved myself to everyone that talked smack about me and how I wouldn't make it far in life, but soon they will see all of what I'm capable of. Nothing can bring me down and if the Dream Act is passed I will go to college, get my degree and have a career. I am no differ from any other student just because I'm "not from here". I have a dream, a goal, expectations, and dedication. I will never let anyone put me down!
