I recently got my 1098-T tax form from my school. And I noticed that it had a student ssn. (which I obviously don't have one) what does that mean? Has anyone had that before?

I got an email saying that my tax form was ready to download. I actually never looked to see it. I just got reminded of it. I really need this form as the fucking federal govt is taking 30% of my earnings away!

I got my 1098-T tax form from my school also. However, my ITIN number is showed on the SSN. (Before 9/11 my college accepted ITIN if he or she doesn't have SSN). The SSN sent me a letter the last time I did it. They say that there is something wrong with my SSN blah blah blah... So, I have my doubts if I will do again... I don't want to receive SSN letters again.

I received my 1098-T but it does not list a SSN (my school left it black). Is it a number you recognize, such as an ITIN or student ID #? Maybe you can call the bursar department at your school and ask for a correction to the form?

You can use this form as a basis for requesting a tax credit when filing taxes with ITIN. You do receive a letter stating that SSN does not exist, but I've ignored it for years, and nothing happens. Thanks to this credit, I was not required to pay any taxes last year, considering that my income was used for tuition expenses.

well it only shows the last four digits, but i do not recognize the last four. I think maybe the school did it to identify the students.
