Obama has nothing to lose in his next term. The economy is improving, and he could set up a nice 2016 for the next democrat if he passes immigration reform.

Obama does not need 60 democrats in the senate to pass I.R. You forget how many republicans supported I.R. in the past, even a Republican president supported it! The GOP will lose handily in November, reassess, and realize that they need the Latino vote to will some Congregational seats in 2014. Some sort of package will be put forward before the next midterms.

Just look at this recent politico article, about Latinos poised to make big gains this November. If this continues, Texas could be in play in a few years.

Think more about it though, what is there left for Obama to do. He has done most everything big he wanted(Healthcare, bank regulation, auto bailout). He just needs immigration and a robust energy policy to finish the package.

I hate to sound like the eternal optimist DAUser, but I do believe when I.R. is tackled in earnest, with all sides coming together, then we could pass something.

lobbyist final word. That's how this country is run. The more money a party is able to gather the higher the price at the end of it. I doubt some sort of CIR will be passed and if its done than it will be for a few.

I still don't understand why people go to this forum and bash the DA bill. If you don't think DA has no chance of passing at all then why bother discussing it?

Everyone who doesn't think it's going to pass are fooling themselves. If you really don't think there's any hope you wouldn't be on here reading current news and development about the DA; that is what being realistic really means.

Well...if Obama gets reelected in 2012, and he and Congress continue to handle the Dream Act the way they have done in his first term in office, then NO, it will NOT pass.

No. Even with 60 democrats a few years ago, he never even brought Dream to the table.
