So after giving it two years of thought, I finally decided that I'm not leaving. Screw the ban. My life is here. My family, my friends, my future girlfriends, and possibly my future wife.

The whole reason I was going to leave was because I wanted to avoid the ban. But what's the point of coming back legally in a few years or so when everything you knew will have changed? Your friends will have made a life for themselves, your family won't be different, but if you have younger brothers or sisters, they'll be older and you will have missed out one of the biggest portions of their life, their teenage years.

I know things won't be easy here, and they won't, but the advantage is that I have been living like this for a long time so I know what to expect.

I will stay here and fight for our dream. If nothing happens, they at least I will have my education to take back home and it will definately be put to good use.

Best of luck to us all and I know many of you won't care about my decision, but it's a big decision for me so yeah lol

Would you have been able to come back legally? That is a question many people are overlooking. Its not just about facing the ban, they will realize that you have been out of status in the country and that will work against them giving you the ability to come back legally. And what is legally for you?

A family petition? If they are your parents you would have been petitioned right now, if they are a brother or sister, they are not considered your immediate relatives and it can be a decade or two before you are able to come back to the US, not to mention they have to be 21 before they can even start the process and what is to say politicians will not change the process then.

It is a very hard decision to make, either way you look at it. Aim for the degree, in that way, you will have something that is worth something internationally, a high school diploma is worthless everywhere else.

And, if you are in California, things look good . . .

Anyways, you have balls. I bow before your presence. Kudos.

By legally I mean applied for a student visa. My plan was to go to a university in Mexico and obtain my Master's over here. I would have had my own house to my name, money in the bank, and a reason to return to Mexico (university) so therefore it would've been easier for me to return....right?

The ban would be activated on March 25th, so I can still leave if I want to right? I mean what would I have to do in order for the US government to know that I left before the ban? I can leave before my 19th birthday too. I don't mind waiting 3 years. Would I have to go to the US embassy in Mexico City and tell them "Hey, I was an undocumented person, but left before the 18 1/2 age mark, am I still okay to return legally?" Well not like that but along those lines. lol

Congrats on choosing to stay and fight for the dream act. I personally gained a new perspective from what you said. Because this is the only place I know and even if going to Mexico is a backup plan my life is here. The future I envision for my self is here, and that will never change.

I agree unless you have been arrested before(when they finger print you) then there is really no way of them knowing you lived here unless you tell them because school and medical records are kept private.
