Nobody forced you to stay and don't come to me and give me the "this is the only country I ever knew" excuse because our parents just went trough that experience of going to a foreign and unknown place looking for a better future. We are dreamers and we can succeed anywhere in the world but let's be honest, this is the greatest country in the world, we love it and hang on to it tight.

On another note, please don't make yourself a martyr or a victim and resent your parents because of the unfortunate situations we find ourselves in. Yes, it's unpleasant and sad but thousands of people around the world wish they lived the quality of life we have even as undocumented immigrants.

Excuse me, but don't get loud with me. You have to respect others' opinions. This is not a communist forum, not everyone needs to agree with you and believe in the same thing. We are here to express our ideas and not barking like dogs. It is very big of you not resenting your parents, but I have seen threads talking dreamers resenting their parents for our messy situations. It is true that a lot of us don't know our roots after so many years living in the states, especially those 30+ dreamers and those who came here as babies. You are being very unreasonable and insensitive for saying that.

Also, I was born in early January and didn't know about self-deportation and the 10 ban after I graduated high school in July. Everyone has a different situation, and I chose to stay for higher education. My opinion may not fit yours, but it is most definitely not "absurd". And the way you are painting other users is very controlling and I am sorry that this great nation has raised us to have free minds.

Because they are closed mind and can't afford to lose an "online argument".

It's just an opinion. It aint gonna bite you.

Dude, you're acting as though finishing high school or getting a GED is some sort of momentous life accomplishment. It's not.

I respect the fact that other people may have other opinions, I just don't respect their opinions.

I'm personally not against it because it's not like USCIS's plan is to grant certain amount of numbers of DACA. Also, I highly doubt that free riders would get any good job w/out education. The best they can do is like In N Out...

That's fine and all, but its becoming militant around here that sharing one's opinion although different, is met with hostility outright.

That's like a hat contest where everyone brings hats they have/like, and you have the crowd or other people participating, grabbing the other person's hat and taking a shit on it.

That's what's not cool and is the point I am trying to make.

Share opinions/don't attack each other.

doesn't bother me at all. i think everyone should have at least a ged, no matter what their status is, for their own good. and for the people around them. if this gives them the extra push, so be it. for those of us who have higher education degrees, good for us. pat ourselves on the back. i don't think those without a ged are free riding. i'm more of a free rider than they most likely are. the things i accomplished i did because of opportunities given to me and because i was so ingrained to succeed academically i felt i had no choice. i didn't even know i was undocumented. but to be perfectly frank, my academic record is stellar with accolades to boot, but i contributed very little to the movement other than outing myself and making sure people around me knew and sending the occasional (so hard) emails asking people to sign their name to a petition.

what do you want people to do? not get geds? not apply for deferred action? remove themselves from this country? you think you can judge someones character by what education level that they've completed? or see their potential? understand why they might have not finished high school? what a joke.

How the FUCK would anyone getting a GED/Diploma now, make them a "free rider". What kind of logic are you using there buddy? What did YOU put in to get this bus rolling? Because the way I see it we are all in the same bus here and for you or anyone to come out and say people dont deserve to be part of it because they didnt graduate earlier, just makes me wonder wtf did you ever do to deserve it.

How do you people know if someone had to drop out of school because they had to work or else their family/kids would starve and never had the time to get a GED because they worked two jobs.

Come on man, you people make me sick talking about how some people dont deserve it. I would think all DREAMers would be greedless at this point. Bc this is the same mentality the fucking rednecks, who dont even contribute to shit in this country, have towards all of us. They dont think we deserve crap neither.

You guys do know that GED is an exam. It is not a program that you have to officially sign up. You pay and you take the test. It aint no school. Because in this thread, I'm sensing that most of you are not aware of it.
