You can get a company to sponsor you though since you are on Student Visa.

I think CIR/DA will pass before your Student Visa expires and that is my prediction.

I believe the current strategy is to get a whole bunch of us to work legally, then change the argument for Dream Act by saying "If we don't pass this bill, our economy will suddenly lose 1+million active members & job holders, causing an economic catastrophe." Much more convincing (sadly and infuriatingly) than the fact that when we came to this country, we didn't have a say in it (well, I mean, I was excited, but I had a similar reaction to Power Rangers at that age).

We don't know how many will get approved and/or how many will get work permits?

This is more like the Civil Rights movement.

I already tried sponsor, was denied by USCIS once. So then i came back to student again to stay legal, if i hadn't i would qualify for this.

Sponsorship isn't easy any more like it used to be. I tried and tried, but companies aren't willing to spend thousands of dollars and 2-3months wait time for EAD, when they have citizen workers they can take with the economy the way it is. plus without any experience, even difficult

hoping on CIR aswell, hope it happens soon.

Agreed, i wonder how many will get approved.
i hope approval rate is > than 90%
most are applying on their own, so some may get "request for evidence" or denied.....i hope those who feel uncomfortable a lawyer and do it right, it's just once chance....no appeal process.

Edit:But i wonder if u can re-apply as new application if your denied? b/c it's not appeal, or sort of is...dunno

Denied for what? H1B Visa? You are right, it is no where like it was in the late 90's with the dot.com boom when the unemployment was so low and companies were hiring left and right.

Yes H1b. unemployment maybe, but problem is the process and how long it takes...comapnies don't mind spending money to hook you up at times but they hate waiting for you for months. Stupidest rule is, u can apply for h1b in April but can't start work till October 1st at earliest....so gay.
