No. Lawyers are for people who have issues that are unique and can't be answered through search on this board.

If you don't have anything to your name, kept your nose clean of trouble, etc, then you are fine. Don't get one. This is coming from a person who has a lawyer.

This board should be your main resource. Many of us with lawyers also post additional information too and can ask questions on behalf of you guys (if possible/applicable).

$2.5k o.O

Holy crap.

What a rip-off. While the good lawyers are awesome and help out those in need for reasonable prices, the sneaky lawyers are like sneaky car mechanics -- they're always overcharging you for something; and if there's nothing wrong, they make something wrong just to charge you more.

This is why some people are weary of lawyers. If you feel you must hire a lawyer, consult with different ones, and compares fees. Better yet, ask around for a recommendation from someone who has worked with an immigration lawyer before in your area.

Stay the hell away from this one.

I was at a lawyers office, hoping not to be charged, for some advise. As soon as I overheard him categorize Deferred Action as a "law", I walked out. DA is new to you as it is for them. Just follow the instructions and fill the form to the best of your ability.

I you don't have anything that could hinder you application process like misdemeanors and stuff like that, then you don't need a lawyer.
You can do all the application stuff on your own if you have a clean record.

Definately too much. I think you can do it on your own. Like someone mentioned before, I think 800 is already a very high price many are paying. Take your time and just fill it out on your own. There is no immediate rush.

No lawyer can guarantee the advance parole waiver. One cannot even apply for it yet... He is bull shitting you.

DO NOT DO IT!

Tell him I say to "Stick my foot up his ass!!!" for trying to take advantage of the situation.

Unless your case has some complications you should be able to file on your own.

Advance parole is a giant maybe, first you need to be granted DACA and the EAD, then you also need some emergency in your country of origin to be granted AP.

Guy is bullshitting you.

$2500 isn't that bad when you compare it to that Philippino dude who was being charged $3000 just for the lawyer to fill up his apps.

Don't do it, these Mafioso lawyers just want your money for nothing. The only way I'd pay $2500 is if they guaranteed me my papers 100% of the way with no excuses and written in paper; which isn't going to happen.

Fill them out yourself, they're not that complicated. Just make sure to follow instructions and provide all the info they ask for.
