Was looking over the requirements for an NJ Drivers License and noticed something interesting as their requirement.

"Valid I-94 stamped “Refugee,” “Parolee,” “Asylee” or “Notice
of Action” (Form I-797 approved petition) by INS or USCIS
"

Dreamers does this mean we can get a license in NJ soon?

Of course !

* Current photo employment authorization card
* US school photo ID card with transcript or school records
* Social Security card
* High school or college report card/transcript from the past two years

Having those 4 options already gives you 6 points.

You would still need to wait for your EAD because you need to present a valid SSN as well.

What I would want to know is how long the license would be valid for. Would it be valid for 2 years? If its only valid for the period of the EAD, then I would rather keep my current license which is good for another 7 years.

Most likely it will only be valid for the 2 years.

That's what I am thinking too, just going to keep my current DL if that is the case.

I already have an SS Card. So once I get my I-797 can I go get my license?

It doesn't look like it from the petition.What I was trying to extrapolate in the other thread was Texas actually has "pending" status listed instead of approved which should allow an individual to gain a Texas ID.It seems one would require the actual EAD in New Jersey.

Um guys, Just go to the MVA, give them your social and work permit, take the picture and be on your way. It is not like we have a star on our chest. I've had my license for 6 years now and I only had to renew it twice (when I went from PDL to DL and when I turned 21)

P.S. I don't have a SSN, you just have to be smart about these things.
