I received my biometrics letter today and also a phone call from the paralegal at my lawyers office. She asked if I had an ID other than my passport for safety reasons... because she said something about immigration officials being able to deport me at anytime if they get a hold of my passport (final order). She said it was okay to use it but what she said got me a little worried... can anyone enlighten/clarify me on the biometrics procedure and the risks for me?

They can't use your passport against you, otherwise we would've all been deported. We paid for the biometrics service so they're required to give it to us.

Don't stress brah we'll be alright

^^

Also, since you're application is being reviewed, and the biometrics is arranged by USCIS themselves for that purpose, it should be safe.

Is your lawyer certified in immigration? I hope so... It sounds like the paralegal doesn't know exactly what's going because the only reason they would deport you at 'any time' is if you already have a deportation order... but you're applying for DACA thru USCIS, if you had a deportation order your process would be different (I suppose, because of what the instructions for DACA said). So don't worry. Also, my family went to get their biometrics with their passports and they were fine.

Depends on where you live, I'd have to say. If you're by a border I would worry a little but not too much. If they do try to deport you, immediately call the number on the USCIS website. If anything you'll probably go to the front of the line.

Straight from uscis.gov "daca faq", almost the last question, towards the bottom:

What should I do if I meet the guidelines of this process and have been issued an ICE detainer following an arrest by a state or local law enforcement officer?
If you meet the guidelines and have been served a detainer, you should immediately contact either the Law Enforcement Support Center’s hotline at 1-855-448-6903 (staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) or the ICE Office of the Public Advocate either through the Office’s hotline at 1-888-351-4024 (staffed 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday) or by email at [email protected].

Unless you have an immigration warrant or are a known threat to national security I wouldn't worry too much.. then again I'm not from a border state..

From my experience the Application Support Center, where you get your biometrics, is just an information collecting center. It is a big room with a few cubicles containing the computers that take your digital fingerprints and picture and the rest of the space is open waiting area with chairs. Everyone walks in, shows letter for biometric appointment, shows identification (foreign passports are the most commonly used form of identification used), the person at the front checks your name against the name on the biometric and your face against the passport photo.
You are then given a form to fill out your name, address, phone number etc and when you turn that in, you get a number that will show up on the board when it is your turn. It's all open so you can watch people walk in, watch people being printed, watch them leave. They don't know or care about what your specific status is, their only job is to get your fingerprints, and pictures so they can forward it to whatever agency requested this service.
