I was able to get the money to renew my passport and matricula until today. Well, according to the internetz, I will have to spend an entire day at that awful place only to get my passport in 3 months. THREE MONTHS!!! It's not like I can call and get info... the damn place never picks up

Is this true? Have you gone to get your passport recently?

I was hoping to "squeeze" in this DACA process before my passport expired but I got the last of the records I had been waiting for until today.... and the story is starting to get long...

what is your experience??? there's NO info out there other than awful reviews.

And please feel free to share your experience with your consulate, any horror stories?? make me feel better.
Im from Guatemala too. My passport expired at the begginiing og June, I went to renew on the 18th of June, When August 15th, I had everything ready to send my DACA packet except for the damn passport that never came like you said its taking them months to mail it.
I decided to send my packet on the 16th since I had no hopes of getting the passport soon, I sent copy of expired passport, along with the consular ID (which I applied for the same day that I went to renew my passport, Good news is that the The Consular ID you do get it within 7 days after you apply for it, I hope you did).

I also sent a copy the receipt I got from the Guatemalan consulate showing that I had applied for it, but have not gotten it yet ( i wrote a little note explainint this on the peace of paper.
I was really worried too that it would be a problem, but I got approved nevertheless. (nebraska Service center)., make sure to Send copies of anyother ID you have. Good Luck!!

But, I think your matricula should be enough. I also sent a copy of my expired passport! Good luck!

So you still don't have your passport? That's crazy I went a few days after you and received it in the mail the same day as my biometrics letter. Around beginning of August I went to check if it was ready and they said all the applicants from June would take at least 3 months to be ready. And it's ridiculous how they NEVER answer their phone. My passport and matricula expired at the beginning of the year and I wanted to renew them before we all knew about DACA and tried calling several times to check the requirements to renew and they never answered. Phone always sounds busy or the answering machine picks up. BTW in the form for the passport you fill out it asks if you want to pick it up or have it mailed I checked pick-up so it was a surprise when it arrived in the mail.

The OP should be fine with a valid matricula when I filed my application lawyer said as long as I have a valid matricula it will be fine.

No i stil dont have my passport. Its gonna be four months next week. Dealing with them is so difficult . My sister attempted to ger her passport a few days after i did. They told her that her birth certificaate was too old foo them to accept it. That was sooo much bs because mine was waay older than hers. Theyre horrible to deal with

Go to Pico. I had no troubles there. If not, try Gardena cause El Monte can be picky too.

You should try calling your consulate. It might be an entire different story for you.

It's supposed to take 2-3 days to get it. There's just some issues with something about the printing and something about contracts and something something (lol). Pretty much the consulate in Los Angeles no longer prints passports in the US, they have to process them in Guatemala then ship them to Miami, then ship them to LA... and that takes 4 weeks but there's a backlog and it's taking over 4 months... and there's very little information >.< What I know is that people (who can travel) just get a provisional passport and head over to Guatemala to pick up their passport which takes less than 2 hours to get done over there -__-
