Hi guys,
I had a few questions about applying for a SS #. Sorry if this has been asked before but I don't have time to read through 72 pages. I wanted to know, what do we check in section 5 (Citizenship) ? Other? Also, both of my parents do not have a social security number, I am over 18. Do I have to list them at all in the application? Thanks for any help provided!

Has anyone tried getting their SSN with a Consulate ID?? I have a Colombian Consulate ID from the Colombian Consulate in Los Angeles.

That's the only form of ID I have cause my passport is expired.

Should I go get my birth certificate translated...? Or will that ID be enough?

When I went to apply for a SS Monday I gave the guy my EAD and passport, he asked if I had my BC so I gave it to him, it wasn't translated. He put the passport to the side and used the BC to type whatever mumbo-jumbo into the computer.

I filled out the application, but the guy at the SS Office just did it himself, didn't even look at the one I printed out.

Question 5, put Legal Alien Allowed to Work.
Yes, put both your parents on there. Then check the box that says "unknown" next to the SS# boxes.

Yeah I noticed that the web site says they want original documents and won't take anything notarized. My birth certificate has been with me my whole life tho and it isn't in the greatest shape lol but I'll take it with me and see what they say. Thanks!
