I haven't researched it well yet, but I've read that certain prepaid cards might help build credit, like Serve from American Express.

Secured cards suck really badly, they have tons of fees associated with them so if you're gonna get one, make sure you find the one that has the best terms (APR%, deposit $, fees, etc).

I'm still waiting, I'd give them a call if I wasn't so busy with school work.

Do all these cards y'all are approved for require credit? I tried to apply to bank if America student credit card but I didn't get approved. Just for the secured bullshit. And I don't have a lump sum of money for that.

Why do you suggest that?

Cuz an agent at bank of America said that it takes up to 30-45 days for these new randomized SSN to get in the system. Just like it takes up to 10 days for our EAD's to get in the system.

In the mean time maybe u can apply for a secured card and use it to build up ur "name history" so that when u apply for a credit card later you won't get rejected for reasons like "invalid SSN" or "lack of history under name"
