I don't buy that at all I'm afraid. From what most people have been interpreting, DACA beneficiaries will most likely be granted the ability to apply for green cards right away as soon as this bill has passed. I think school and the military are just other options that can lead to US citizenship faster.

Interesting. After doing some research, I am in fact not classified as a DREAMer. Now I'm wondering what I would be classified as! I wonder how the new reform would treat a case like mine. Only time will tell..

Trust me. They will not give SUPER SPECIAL TREATMENT. However, we will get special treatment, it just won't be as good as you are imagining.
Actually, I think with some cases, such as mine, I may just be able to pay a fine and apply for a green card once reform passes. My I-130 wasn't filed on time, I came here legally, my sister is a permanent resident, and more importantly my mother is a US citizen which gives me priority for a green card.

Almost half of all immigrants came here legally and overstayed their visas. Trust me, my friend came here legally about 20 years ago, his father petitioned him (US Citizen) in 2001, he's still waiting.....

We dreamers will get classified as such, and won't be able to expedite our process simply because we have US Citizen relatives and we came here legally.

Well I find it hard to believe that someone who came here legally, will now HAVE to join the military or school for TWO years until they can apply for permanent residency. That doesn't sound like comprehensive reform. What would happen to someone that can't afford school? Would he be part of the DACA program for the rest of his life?

As far as your friend who sounds like he's in a similar position as me, I doubt he will now all of a sudden be required to go to school or join the military OR go to the back of the line for a green card when he's already been on a path to one since he came here. The back of the line is for people who aren't on a path. Which is exactly why they are going to the back of the line so that the people like me and your friend who have already been on a path to residency have priority. It's only fair so that the undocumented don't play leap frog.

He would qualify as a dreamer but he aged out, so his option is to wait about 5 or 6 years for a green card. The people who would go to the back of the line are the people applying via CIR laws. The same can be said about people with pending cases; however, you may be given the option of expediting your case at your convenience by being classified as a dreamer rather than someone who applied along time ago and is still waiting....dunno.

This is mere speculation. I think we have to wait for an actual bill to surface to make assumptions about the process and categorization. However, judging by previous Dream Act bills, I would say that they make us go to school/military before we obtain a green card.

Me too but I think they'll set it at 35.
