Misspelled name on EAD

Call USCIS first thing Monday morning to get this fixed. You can still go to a Social Security office to apply. Once you get your fixed EAD go back to the SSA Office to get your named fixed.

I also have a typographical error on my EAD and waiting my new EAD. I went to a Social Security Card Center and they told me I could still apply for a social. Once I get my fixed EAD, I have to get my name changed on my Social. This was last Wednesday and I received my Social Security card in the mail today.

I have the same problem. What they told me to do was to mail the service center that processed your application (mine was Nebraska), your EAD, new passport pictures, and copy of a document/proof with your proper name on it. Is that what they told you too? This is such a pain in the ass.

But... My EAD has a major typographical error! Here's the story:

When I first filed my applications, the correspondance regarding my EAD Application had tons of typographical errors while my I-821D correspondance was perfect.

This is what they did:

My 'Real' Name: John Fabio Doe Carlos

I-821D Name: John Fabio Doe Carlos - c/o John Doe (How I wanted it to be)

EAD Card Name: John C Doe Carlos

EAD Correspondance Name: John Carlos Doe Carlos

I called USCIS on August 28th to get it fixed and I got a service request number. How ever, on the EAD card and EAD correspondance I got today, it still has the same typographical errors -__-

I just called again and LUCKILY I got an agent that was hispanic and understood the naming mess all hispanic have to deal with here in the Untied States! She even told me the agent that created the request back on August the 28th had no idea what she was typing.

Now I'm very nervous to go to the SSA office because she said they might or might not make a big fuss about it; it's up to the SSA office's discretion. I'm taking all the letter I received (the I-821D with my name correct, my EAD, the letter which had my EAD attached, and the service request number I just got).

I went into a SSA Card Center Office today in Manhattan to see if I could get a print out of my SSN. My application was stuck in pending because the SSN Application Name was different from the name associated with my EAD.
In other words, my SSN Application was never going to be approved because the SSN Application had a different name than the name associated with my EAD.


The agent immediately deleted the old application and started a new one with my incorrect name (from EAD) on the SSN Application. The documents were immediately verified (no 10 day wait).
She told me to come back in 24 to 48 hours to get a print out of the number and when I receive the corrected EAD to go back to office and have them change the name associated with the SSN.
Also, on the receipt it says the card will arrive in the mail within 2 weeks but the agents told me it takes no longer than a week after the numbers are assigned to me.

So the point of this post (and contradicting what I said the other day), if you wait 10 days, your documents might be verified on the spot!

I just for my work permit today with my name misspelled (Melisssa with 3 s's) and I called uscis and they said I will get a letter saying what to do.
