What if you are not DACA qualified? You're not allowed to enlist under this act?

I believe it said anyone residing over 2 years.
I am not big on the military but if this passes it will be another possibility for moving forward.

Anyone residing for just 2 years can apply? Then they would become Citizens? That was sudden...

Its aimed at DACA kids

Quote:
Current law states that any individual who legally enlists and serves in the military for one year is naturalized. During wartime the naturalization is immediate. My bill would extend this benefit to DACA individuals.

Quote:
All enlistees, upon joining the military, incur an eight-year service obligation. Naturalization only becomes final and irrevocable after five years of honorable service.

"The bill will allow persons who have resided continuously in the United States for at least two years, and those classified as Deferred Action Child Arrivals by the Department of Homeland Security, to enlist."

So....must have lived in the U.S. for 2 years, under DACA, to be eligible to join the military?

Yeah, it sounds like they're saying anyone that has lived here for at least 2 years can join, which is weird.
