again, they only use ID to match name on ticket, not immigration status (only immigration and custom officials are in charge of that). As long as the ID is not expired, you are good.

You don't know that for certain with regards to US territories.

I do know of individuals who have transited through Puerto Rico concerning when they have traveled back to their home country considering they are legal or partially so.The latest individual as I mentioned in another thread was a TPS Holder w/ AP of Haitian origin who had to go through immigration inspection at Munoz International and was asked for documentation[TPS EAD] not only because they were traveling internationally but it happened just before their US bound flight.

CBP does monitor US bound flights!

The real question here is does the issue of being approved Deferred action allow travel into US territories and back to the US irregardless of prior status, entry and/or if one has a removal or deportation order.I am not satisfied with the AVVO answer as it relates to all dreamers and will be forwarding this question directly to CBP port offices for further clarity.

I think one should also look at this article concerning the issue of USVI as well.

I was informed yesterday by a very close friend who is a US Citizen and travels to St. Thomas (U.S.Virgin Islands) all the time (was just there a few months ago) that even though your license is a valid id to use when traveling there u still go through immigration when entering and leaving the country. just thought I'd share that info.

With that being said, I'll keep my butt on the mainland not taking any chances

Did immigration ask for his passport, visa, or green card/US birth certificate? I bet you no because all you need is a US ID/DL

Ugghhh....I hate having to link to an anti-immigrant site such as CIS but they have an article written concerning the issue of internal US travel and the restrictions available. The general concesus seems to be immigration checkpoints in USVI,CNMI,GUAM and exempt Puerto Rico having CBP sometimes watching US mainland bound flights and asking for immigration documents just before flight departure.

nah, not all airports. airlines have to plan their flights appropriately and to the right airports because some airports don't have CBP (customs and border patrol presence). Some even have to plan for their flights to arrive at a certain time at major airports because certain terminals have CBP presence only at certain times.

this can also be a problem with flight diversions when international flights have to make sure the airports they are diverting to have CBP on duty. If not, passengers stay on the plane or in a sterile area until the plane is able to go to the original destination.
