NJ permit age? Im confused help!?

I am 21 years old turning 22 this July
and Im trying to get a my first driver's permit

I saw on nj mvc website
and got confused
whether if Im getting a 6month or 3month permit

17-21 : Years Old For drivers age 17 or older, MVC offers a three-phase process: 6month supervised driving
21 Years + : For drivers ages 21 and up, MVC offers a three phase process: 3month supervised driving

I prefer 3month supervised driving rather than 6month with a permit


I m really confused if I can get a 3month right now
since Im 21yearsold
or
do I need to wait unitl I turn 22 next month to get a 3month permit?

AND

Do you take a picture for a permit?
Is the permit plastic card or paper?

If your going before you turn 22 then you will have to wait the 6 months but if you go after you turn 22 you only have to do 3 months, unless for some reason they give it to you for three months since you are pretty much about to be 22 in like a month. Just make sure you ask once you go for your permit. And bring all your documents because you gonna need points in order to get your license

I also believe they give you a paper.

I'm pretty sure you will get the 3 month permit. The permit is a paper page with a little sticker thing from motor vehicles. Once you get it with documentation you have to go to the testing room and pass the test and get it validated. I am 23 and got the 3 month permit too.
You don't take picture for permit but you can get an ID for like $25 which is basically like a driver's license but only for id purposes.
