That sucks man. I'm no expert, but I guess the only way to have a car under your name would be to build up credit. Research around on the internet to see different ways that suit you and make it possible.

when did you get the SSN. It takes some time until banks can process a new SSN.

ask the dealer if he has in house financing. although the interest is a bit higher than borrowing from a bank, still worth it if you dont have any credit

Make sure you tear that toy at 130+ mph on the freeway/highway so if they call it back at least you had fun...

Update: So i was back and forth all yesterday trying to prove income and what not. Long story short, i was asked to go back to the dealership, so i did. I thought they were going to ask for the truck back as they had not said anything regarding the reason why i had to go back. So i did and all they wanted to do was adjust my APR because apparently i make enough money to have a lower APR. Spoke with the bank and there was no issues what so ever. They didn't even ask for my social or EAD just License and SS#.

Anyway, this is a happy little story. Good luck to the rest of you!

just on a curious side note:

Was it a legit dealership?

i'm toyota btw.

Heh I had a Nissan truck once...bought it from a guy named Jose (true story) who forgot to tell me that the thing was wrecked before and the frame was bent. That thing was an alignment nightmare...on top of everything else, when you own a truck, everybody you know asks you to help them move stuff...
Boss wants you to help his cousin pick up a freezer from Home Depot? Sure! Friend moving to a dorm wants you to help her move her stuff because they don't fit in her mom's car? Sure!
When I fell asleep driving home from work one night and totaled it (losing about $6000 in 1998 money) , I was comforted by the fact that I would be getting a regular car and never helping someone move.
