Dream act will only give you a BOG waiver if you attend CC. If your a transferring student you'll be eligible for Cal Grant A or B but if you failed to meet the March 2nd deadline your financial aid could be delayed.

Not really. But thanks PhelonOne87.

Basically from what I gather... I have to "Register or be currently enrolled at an accredited institution of higher education in California" first, then I could apply for Dream Act.

What's a BOG waiver? & how much tuition if any, does it cover? I want to attend CC. This will be my first time attending college.

the BOG fee waiver will basically cover the total cost of your classes. Its pretty much paid tuition, everything else (books,health fees, etc ) is on you to pay. And yes you do have to be currently enrolled at a school first because they send your application to your school for aid disbursement

@dannyblur
Thanks, I appreciate your help. Hopefully I can get enrolled a.s.a.p! Books alone are really expensive and I can't even afford the enrollment fees alone as it is right now. I'm going to have save up, but in the meantime... I'll have to meet up with the school guidance counselor/etc. to plan and get further advise as to what I should do in order to get my RN (ASD) at a CC with the option to transfer to a University within 2 years, if it's possible.

I applied before the March deadline and received my grant for the whole next year. The cost does not cover everything. I'm going to say it covers about 85% of your tuition. It really depends on where you go.

Last year I applied past the deadline. I think I applied december 2012 for the march 2012 deadline. I still received grants for that year for winter and spring quarter.

Trust me I worked my ass off to pay my tuition which is around $10k a year. A couple hours of your time can save some big $$.

If I'm getting $1400 from the CA Dream act does that go towards the BOG waiver? or would I be able to use the $1400 for books and supplies? I'm confused lol
