oh, no! if its true what Mario Lobo said on TV than all Applicants waiting will probably have to wait even longer than the average, to get approved. I recently applied in August and was being possitive and optomistic but then this comes along.. not good.

You're absolutely right. Definitely learnt from my mistake. No excuses are acceptable with things like these because one..DACA is a privilege..second..we already know how swamped USCIS can get. At that time, I was double minded. One one end I thought it was normal due to prosecutorial "discretion" but as my expiration date neared, i thought to myself might as well try to send it back and save on the about 350-400$ application fee. It would've been double that because my sister's EAD had the same issue. However, I just checked my status just how we checked with for the original DACA applications and I see that on "OCTOBER 3rd, 2013", they have ordered production of my EAD. So I think I may have just escaped this time!! Got lucky...But definitely will learn from this mistake. This one should have an expiry date of Nov 2014.

I don't think it will affect it. My friend just got his citizenship interview scheduled (which beats the average processing time for his area by 2 months) and his wife's I-130 got approved few days ago as well. And this is after the priority date became current for Spouses for Permanent Residents (though this was sent out before that) which surely increased the workload for USCIS.

The approvals are still coming and the citizenship interviews are still being given. Business as usual.

USCIS is self funded so the shut down should have no bearing on processing times.
