all he has to do is:

drop the Hastert Rule nonsense
Renounce Goodlatte's piecemeal approach
Put the Senate bill up for a vote

Pros:
-If does the things stated above, he will show that he is capable of leadership and solidify his position as Speaker of the House and as a nationally relevant Republican.
-He will get on the good side of a large chunk of Hispanics and an opening for a higher political trajectory.
-Fat endorsements from Pro Business groups. Big Business will love him.

Cons:
-Teaparty Republicans will put a target on him. His Congressional Seat will be at risk of a primary Teaparty challenger.
-Goodlatte will hate him forever and make life very difficult for him in future votes for taking away his only shot at becoming more than a backwoods politician.
