I go to a community college in California. Under the CA DREAM ACT you can qualify for the BOG-Waiver which covers ONLY the tuition. You might be able to get books and supplies covered by the individual college you go to, but you have to check.

I am not familiar with what the CA DREAM ACT covers for the UC's and Cal State's but it should be able to cover at least tuition also.

Good luck.

Ok so I'm planning to go to fullerton community college and I check the California dream act under financial aid but it seems like a missed the deadline? I'm not sure how this works if its apply at anytime or if they have certain deadlines

Hey! I go to fullerton college too.

All I did was fill out my ab540 forms that I got in the mail from fullerton college. I then went to the records office and gave them my forms, that tagged me as an ab540 student. After doing that, I went to "MyGateway" and applied for the BOG (the waiver that covers your tuition if you qualify). It's all done online.

You have to apply for the BOG every year. They asked for my parent's signature the first time I applied (i'm their dependent), and the second time I applied all I had to do was submit an electronic signature.

You should go see the financial aid office, they'll do a better job at explaining the whole process. It takes a couple days to qualify.

Apply as soon as you can, and if you don't qualify on time don't worry about it. They will reimburse your money after you qualify (if you pay for tuition before you are approved for the BOG).

This has saved me almost 2 thousand dollars, all I've had to worry about is books and materials (I'm a graphic design major).

I was approved for the ab540 but the next step is a little complicated I applied for the California dreamact online which was like about 70 questions but since then I haven't heard anything. Should I apply for the a BOG fee waiver or should I wait till I pick my classes for spring semester?

You should apply for the bog since you have been approved already for the ab540
