im up for a renewal myself.. im down to the 150 days mark..

i was thinking of going to the same lawyer who helped me apply for DACA. I called today to ask if i have to pay them again to have my DACA renewed and they said "yes!"

Why pay for a renewal? The process is really simple. I understand a lawyer might make some people feel more comfortable. I don't think it's a good investment for renewals

Why would a lawyer do it for free?

If you have a copy of your old DACA application the lawyer did... it's nearly the same thing. Even the i765 is almost the same (except your status is Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). The renewal I-821D just asks for passport information, weight, and height.

I would just request a copy of my old DACA app and not bother with a lawyer unless you got into trouble with the law.
