I'm not entirely sure but it seems like they're either having problems or their not caring to update the I-821D. I didn't receive an approval letter for my I-821D and neither have many members.

I had an issue with that the first time I applied for DACA. I contacted them about 4 times, each time they told me they would be sending a copy of my approval letter. I never received it.

I've had problems getting my letters too. They keep getting sent back to dhs. How long did this take for you to get all your work authorization?

Sorry to hear. I hope you receive your approval letter soon!

Don't worry about it. Even if you get your approval letter you can't use it to prove that you can legally work. Your physical EAD card is your PROOF of employment authorization. USCIS is in very inconsistent with their website updates.

Once again, all you need is your EAD card. Even if you call USCIS a thousand times they can't do anything about it nor know the reason why some people do not get their approval letters.

The letter itself states that it cannot be used in place of EAD. "THIS APPROVAL NOTICE IS NOT A VISA OR EVIDENCE OF EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION, NOT MAY IT BE USED IN PLACE OF A VISA OR FORM I-766."

I also recommend against giving any weight to what the USCIS misinformation line says. You call 10 times you will get 11 different answers.

In regards to the question of the thread starter,
It happened before that EAD was approved and DACA got stuck and wouldn't budge. Unless you for some reason require the notice of being granted deferred action (ex. you're in Virginia or some other state that requires it to give you a driver's license), I'd just ignore it and use the EAD.

NO you cannot use the approval letter as proof for employment.

As I mentioned before all you need is your EAD card. DO not worry about the letter !!!!!!!!!!!

You won't get a card if you are not approved !!!!
