Let my story be a warning to all you dreamers. My DACA got renewed on Sept 29, my new EAD card was mailed on Oct 3 and supposedly delivered on October 6. The problem is I never received it. I only discovered the problem on October 15 when I went online to check my case status. I knew immediately something went terribly wrong.

I went to the post office, spoke with the supervisor, they checked in the back and claim it was delivered. I asked my next door neighbors, looked everywhere, the most important piece of mail I was to receive this year mysteriously disappeared and I don't know where it went. My apartment neighborhoods are really nice and they wouldn't take it (plus I have a separate mailbox), my family members wouldn't take it for sure, it simply vanished into the thin air. I think the mail woman who delivers the mail has something to do with it. She's pretty careless sometimes and likes to throw the mail on top of the mailbox instead of putting it inside and then forgets to close the front door when she leaves. I can't tell you how many times my next door neighbors' mail got delivered to me and vice versa. I even got mail addressed to people who live on a completely different street. The ultimate fate of this mail will baffle me for the rest of my life.

Needless to say I'm not in a very good mood right, I have to start the process all over again and spend another $465 which I could have spent on bills etc. If I lost the card myself I wouldn't have a problem with paying again, but the fact that it was never properly delivered to me makes me feel like a great injustice has been done to me. Worse of all I may have a job interview coming up and if they decide to hire me I'm screwed.

Btw, I'd like to say something about the renewal process itself. How stupid is it that we have to pay the fees again and start from scratch?! Why can't they just mail me another card? Why do I have to wait another 3 months and go get my fingerprints taken again when I just did it last month? It's such a freaking waste of time and money. It is like losing your driver's license and the DMV ordering you to take the driving exam again to get a replacement. Absolutely retarded process designed only to make our lives more difficult.

The moral of this story is this, monitor your case very closely and keep your eye out on the delivery of your new EAD card. Keep checking your case status everyday, keep checking the tracking number, don't be like me and don't assume your card will be delivered. I didn't think anything like this could ever happen to me, but it did and now I'm forced to go through all this renewal bs again. It's sad, frustrating and makes me I wish I tracked the delivery of my new card, so I could go to the post office the same day and investigate. I will for sure do it this time.

WOw, that sucks man. That happened to me 2 years ago when I first got my EAD and it was frustration to say the least. If you have a job, then that sucks even more. Mine is about to expire this week, and I have yet to hear about my approval. More probably, I will get fired, and I will not be able to get a job until I get my EAD. Good luck man, hope all works out for you.

Just a quick update. I'm still waiting for my EAD replacement, I haven't even received my biometrics appointment yet and it's been two and a half months since they received my application. I called USCIS in December to see if everything was ok and they just sent me a letter saying my case is still being processed and I have to wait for my biometrics appoinment.

I don't know how much longer it's going to take, maybe another month, maybe longer.

Hey, I'm in the same position as you. I just saw that you replied to my post about applying to jobs when you've been approved but you don't have the card (this thread).

By the way, I had a picture of the new card because I had it sent to my mom's house and she took a picture of it to show me she got it lol Unfortunately, when she mailed the card to me, it got lost Moral of that story: Send important documents in trackable envelopes even if they're expensive.

Anyway, I applied in early November and I'm still waiting... I got a letter from USCIS near the beginning of December and nothing else since then. My letter said to wait for a biometrics appointment.. which I have not gotten. I know people have said you don't need to do biometrics again but I wish I would get something from the government =/

By the way, have you tried expediting? I was looking at the criteria and I'm not sure I fit any of them considering I still got a job without the new card and the other options don't really work.

I'm in the same position as you, I still have a job, so I haven't tried expediting. I'll try to post a copy of the letter they sent me about the status of my case. It basically says they're backlogged and to wait. It takes longer to get a replacement than it does to renew.

Tell me about it. The mailman delivered my card God knows where and I'm being punished for it.

Thanks! Yeah I remember people were saying it can take up to six months or something Please continue to post if you ever have updates! I'll definitely do the same if I get anything. Good luck!

Got RFE today. LOL They say I forgot to submit a photocopy of a photo identity document. I did send a photocopy of my driver's license and old work authorization, so I don't know what the hell they're talking about. It seems like they just want to delay it even more.

EDIT:

They even managed to make a mistake in the letter they sent me.

"Therefore, please submit a photocopy (front and back) of with form I-765"

Photocopy of what?
