EWI with my parents when I was 4 and now I'm DACA approved (December 2014) and waiting to hear back from USCIS on my Advance Parole application based on humanitarian reason (old and ill grandmother).. Got the receipt notice about a week ago, now waiting for biometrics appt. and hopefully approval. My husband and I have been together almost 8 years and married for almost 2. Crossing my fingers that everything works out so I can adjust status and eventually apply for citizenship! We need to rise and make a difference worth making in the political realm for those who follow!

How was your travel in and out of the US? Airport or car, and if airport which and how was your experience? I want all the info I can get so as to prep myself...

We highly recommend advanced parole, we had no issues.

my husband is DACA (renewed)and he applied march 27 2014 and USCIS received application on march 31 2014, it took 5 months to get approved even with attempting to expedite. My husband was approved on august 25 2014, received AP document in exactly a week, and document said we had to be back in US by sept 14, 2014 so we only had couple weeks!

We flew out of LAX airport international Friday morning at 9:50am, however we got there at 6 am just in case we needed to be there extra early... It was def not necessary it only took about 40 min to check in and go through customs. No one asked to see his documents other then his Mexican passport and boarding pass. He was nervous it was first time on a plane. We stayed in Loreto Baja mexico for 5 days.

We drove back to US with my parents (they live in Loreto mexico) it was a 18 hour drive back so we split it in 2 days so my husband could view mexico. When we got to the Tijuana san ysidro border we didn't know if it would be better to walk through the border so my parents car wouldn't have to go to 2nd inspection or to just drive through. Well we decided to drive through and I highly recommend it. We got to border agent and he was really nice... We handed him all 3 of our US passports and my husbands Mexican passport with the AP document in it. He read it then filled out an orange paper and told us to go to 2nd inspection which we were expecting. Once in 2nd inspection another agent came to our car, read the orange paper and asked me & my husband to follow him inside, he was nice making conversation. Once inside there was only 1 other person sitting there. We sat and waited for about 30 min... The officers were laughing and chatting loud where we can all see/hear them. It was a relief hearing them all laugh in good moods. They called my husbands name and took both hands fingerprints & his picture. They stamped his ap documents And kept one and handed one back. Attached to the ap document was the filled out i-94 with a stamp that said patrolled until sept 2015. And we were good to go, no questions asked, no proof needed of where we went, nothing! My husband was so happy haha. We went back to the car, had to wait for an officer to clear our vehicle and we left. If we walked across I'm sure there would of been more people waiting so the process would of been longer. There are 2 2nd inspections.. One for drivers and one for walkers.

We got home and send out the adjustment of status papers within a month and half.

Sweet! Thanks for sharing your guys' experience! I'll have to fly thru SFO (since you can't drive to Korea lol)... I read in another forum that the BP agents at the airports watched a film as part of their training educating them on handling DACA parole cases so I'm hoping by the time I get approved it will be quicker and smooth. Thanks to all you brave souls that left and came back to pave the way for the rest of us! I hope Obama's executive actions don't get knocked down, and hopefully we won't get a Republican in office for the next presidency. I'll post and update my story as well.. Wish me luck I get approved soon! Application sent March 16th... Waiting for my biometrics notice.

Oh that is lucky! I was unfortunately EWI because my parents brought me when I was 4. Thanks! I'll keep you guys posted... This forum is giving me some sense of sanity and helps to relate with others in the same boat! No one knows I'm DACA except my husband... :/

I recently became a U.S. permanent resident after utilizing advanced parole. Even though I had entered with a visa and had no need for it. Advanced parole is safe to use. I would recommend it to anybody who is a daca recipient

Does it matter if your paroled until date has expired when you file for adjustment of status? Also, does it matter what it says under the purpose section of the paroled stamp? I came back using AP as well and my paroled until date has expired and purpose stated was "DACA". Any tips greatly appreciated.
