I want to go into trucking has anyone had any luck getting one? I'm from new mexico. I've heard of someone in my town taking the cdl classes but in the end after paying the class and finishing they denied him because of his status I guess. Is there any way around this so I can get my cdl license?

If you have a mexican nationality you CANNOT GET A CDL. Mexico USA Canada have trade agreements, so if you have a mexican canadian or usa cdl you can use it in any of the 3 countrys. Thats why you cannot apply for one. Not even an out of state Cdl.
Now if you are from any other place that is not mexico you CAN apply for one go and apply for a NON RESIDENT CDL. Its going to cost more but you are able to.

Yeah it sucks. I did all my 5 exams and the road tests, and got the printed copy, but I received a letter that I would not get the hard copy because I am from Mexico.

I think it is only Texas and a few other states that have the non resident category. I am sure in other states it should be entirely possible.

If you have in your work permit that your country of origin is Mexico or Canada it is not possible to get the non resident cdl. You could get a full cdl in a state like Washington if you go to a driving school because the only requirement is the social security. You could try other states like Florida or California.

California is the way to get it. I got mine in California. I went through swift, and before I signed anything, I showed them my permit and asked if it was possible to get one with it and she said she saw a lot of those in their academy. Move to California or get in touch with a swift recruiter if you want.
