that's true...out of state DL are not valid anymore....that's a no lic ticket and jail....jail for whatever reason means an ICE hold followed by a free ticket to your home country and there's nothing an atty can do.....

migth just wanna keep it safe and try to be the best driver in the world.
Completely incorrect.

Thats why my dad was just in traffic court and was told next time he get caught hes going to jail...Im not making this up, the cop told him that when he was checking him
Straight up told him if he had an out of state license he would've automatically took him to jail

You are totally wrong maybe your dad didn't get what the cop said. Does that make sense to you what you are saying??? my brother has a rhode island dl and i live in MA, so everytime he has to drive to visit me he has to go apply for a MA dl before he can drive in MA??? Please correct yourself because you are coming off very ignorant. As long as you have a valid u.s dl you can drive anywhere in the U.S. geez and by the way Your dad didnt go to jail for an international license but yet would have gone to jail for an out of state driver's license????? doesnt make any sense because international dl are not even recognized in the states anymore.

Yeah, thats the way to do it... not.

Give out special id cards for undocumented immigrants. It doesn't sound like a government issued id card, so you cant use it anywhere outside the city as a valid id.
All it takes is one racist sob to look at that card and automatically he/she knows that you are undocumented and probably where you live too. Might as well just line people up to the CIS.

Horrible idea.

I seriously can't get over how bad this idea actually is. Even if it is a valid government issued id card. Lets just asume that somehow, magically, it wont be a cause for discrimination (my ass!), and you live happily with it in New Haven or New York City (http://www.nationnews.com/editorial/308373562241536.php) you are still carrying around a banner saying "hey look at me, im illegal and here is my address right there on the card".

You use this card to travel ANYWHERE outside these "safe haven" cities and you are just waiting to get deported. People are forgetting that very few places are actually forbidding police officers from reporting to immigration, nyc being one of them, others ecourage it or make it a law for police oficers to report or even detain undocumented immigrants. I'm not sure how this would apply to these government issued cards, but like I said before all it takes is one racist sob. I wouldnt be comfortable carrying this thing around.

And you seriously think that if they were ever to pass enforcement laws on federal level that these databases wont be the first place they go to? Give me a break.

Sure, instead of fixing the real issues with immigration, they want to make it easier for us to exist as is, to stay in our place and to throw away our dreams and do the jobs that no American will. Well excuse my french, but fuck them and their special id cards. I am an American and I deserve to be treated like one.

dont start shit, ok lilballer?

They can see how long the car has been registered WITH A FLORIDA FUCKING TAG, the insurance card says my fathers name on it, you have to change your license if you lived in the state for over 30 days...
no crap they dont recognize international DLs but its better than nothing

I would rather go out with my passport rather then a self incriminating ID card from another state

Uhg.....

OK. look....errr read....

Many states have out-of-state DL regulations...many of them were issuing DL to undocumented people, the only requirements were: tax ID, valid passport (home country) and a proof of residency (utility bill). Well a lot of people heard about this, got contacts in the issuing states and rushed to get their DL, using their contact's address.....claiming they were residents in that state. A day later they were back in their home state driving w/ the issuing states DL....the gov found out about this. you had people living in Ga w/ a NC license issued a week ago, and had previous records being residents of their home state......ummm helloooo, shady? So many states made regulations not permtting this.
So yes, it's completely ludacris if you're just passing by on your way to another state for vacation. But, due to the immigratn situation we are now going through you forget that the PD may be very hostile. Not every police officer is going to arrest you for driving w/o a license but many of them will. If you don't have a state ID you might get arrested, the officer might not validate the OS Dl you're using b/c it was issued in a state where many, as necessary as it is and as bad as it sounds, undocumented people were commiting fraud.

The issue is not as light as just spending a night in jail and getting out on a bond, it's as bad as getting arrested for driving w/o a license or a "valid license" and getting an ICE hold before your family can get you out of jail.

It's freigtning, my parents drive like this all the time, my mother got stopped, the only reason she didn't locked up was b/c her brother is a resident and he knows her brother for a couple of yrs, we've been living in the state for almost a decade.

So, I see it and hear it everyday from the chair I sit in, it's sad, it's unfair but there are certain things that are not under our control.......
