Immigration attorney Bruce Coane explains the two executive orders announced so far on immigration. The gist of it is that if you're out of status for any reason, you are now a target for arrest but you don't lose all your due process. Oh and the worst is yet to come if you're from one of the many middle eastern countries (he made a comment on that on a social medial page)...

Why not both? This is a very good immigration lawyer (though pricey)...And he has a lot of good information online lately too.

I know you aged out and hopefully things are fine. But now we all feel the same!

Too much uncertainty.

Here's a good lawyer to follow who is pretty much on top of all things immigration and has been fighting for DACA RECIPIENTS for a long time. He also posted this yesterday.

"Good news. The draft DACA executive order ending the program appears to be on indefinite hold. DACA continues, but do NOT travel for now until we can better understand that new policy on advance parole.

Travelling in the US is fine. If you are near the border be sure to have your EAD. The lawyer is referring to travelling with Advanced Parole.

Somebody was just approved for AP last week. Looks AP is not an issue.

That was dead once Trump got elected because he will likely rescind the Obama orders and also will pick a conservative SCOTUS judge so even if he doesn't rescind it, he won't ask for an appeal or fight for it.

Interesting about the F1 and F4...I guess if less people are coming, the more visas are out there but I don't think the refugees and family based ones are from the same pool of numbers.

My biggest worry now is even if my F4 petition becomes current in a couple of years, I may not be able to adjust my status even with the 245i exemption given the current climate. It could be that I "out myself" to apply for it and they'll follow Trump's orders to detain me because I have a removal order. Or perhaps that I'm from one of the 7 countries he's banning immigrants from.

Dark times are ahead but I guess it could be worse....no machine gun wielding soldiers asking for papers yet...
