I came to the DMV to renew my license. I was told my license couldn't be renewed because my status is still pending by USCIS.

Why would this be? I've received my EAD for 2017-2019.

What state are you in? A lot of states require SAVE verification before giving you a license. USCIS is slow on updating our information. DMV will first electronically submit verification. If that doesn't work then they mail out verification, so it can take between 2-6 weeks.

Here's some info:

You can check your SAVE case status online. Once it says "Returned to Agency" it means you can call your DPS office and ask what USCIS response was. In my case, when I called DPS, they told me my status was verified and that I could go to any DPS office to resume my transaction.
