If the BRIDGE Act at the very least can't get pass during this 6 months period, then we are totally fucked. In my opinion we really only have 4 months. If nothing gets done this year, we can forget about next year 2018. They will not touch this issue during an election year.

I think we are fucked. I understand it's good thing that he is giving us 6 months but it's near midterm elections. Do you guys think these repubs will really expose themselves as pro illegals right before election? I doubt it. I wouldn't do it, either.

That's why something has to get done this year. I don't think nobody can debate taking this into next year is a good safe.

From New York Times:

Quote:
The compromise, which could lead to legislation superseding President Barack Obama’s executive order, is intended to address a growing chorus of Republican lawmakers, led by the House speaker, Paul D. Ryan, who have implored the White House to keep some form of the program.

The temporary solution has been the subject of quiet negotiations between Mr. Trump’s legislative staff and members of Mr. Ryan’s staff, according to an administration official familiar with the talks.

But administration aides concede that Congress may be unable to agree on a legislative fix, given the headwinds that previous legislation has run into for years. It is unclear exactly what would happen after six months if Congress does not act.

The president is scheduled to receive more counsel on the matter on Monday, before an announcement the White House has said will be made on Tuesday. The plan was first reported on Sunday night by Politico.

The White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, had no response to questions about the negotiations, other than to say Mr. Trump still intended to make some kind of announcement after Labor Day.

I would be willing to bet my 10K in my investment account that it will be the BRIDGE Act with a possible renewable option amendment. I just don't see legislation giving us GC's passing in the house right now, especially in a republican control congress.

I Don't really want to add insult to injury but, I have stayed away from this site for months simply because I was totally disgusted at how some on here literally became pro trump overnight The minute that lunatic got elected. I guess some thought if only they said positive things now about agent orange Trump was going to save them.

It finally dawned on me as to why us immigrants become and stay political footballs year after year as a lot seem to have zero loyalty to any party who gives a quarter of a Shit about them and their plight.. Some literally were making the case for why they don't deserve any politician putting their necks on the political chopping block for them. The minute they get any kind of status They will turn on a dime and support the party that is blatantly anti immigrant because now that they already have their foot in the door it is now time to keep the other immigrants from getting in. The others still looking for status start turning on each other groveling for scraps from the right wing party who despises them. Maybe they feel republicans will have a heart if they act like good little undocumented immigrants and say positive gushy things about their scum bag president. I don't mean to minimize the position we are all in as it is a desperate one and I know desperate time calls for desperate measures but why anyone in their right state of mind would think trump was gonna be the same or better for dreamers is mind boggling, they must have been sipping on some ice cold Foolaid. It is this type of BS that helped trump get elected. You would think the way he dogged out Hispanics he wouldn't have gotten a single vote from them but surprisingly -yes he did.

I hope this is a political distraction from the Russian scandal and hopefully trump won't follow through but I have zero optism as Trump is literally satan incarnate.
