Jesus, this thread is beyond thick.

First, read the entire article, not just the bits OP has selectively choosen, to get a better sense of the anxiety of those you are to quick to disparage.

You may yet disagree with them, but at least they understand it comes from a place of good faith (in the argument).

Second, rather than being mindless reactionaries, endlessly whipping oneself up into paroxysms of outrage, mostly not even on the content or merits, but on the strength of the labels you yourself have ascribed to others, by which you then malign them (which is easier, I know), just answer the substance of their individual contention; talk to them, not at them.

In other words, see the people behind your opaque and gratuitous labels, and address them. Stop raving against your own caricatures of others.

Which in this case is very simple. Just point out, that insofar as their is any concern about 'mass deportation' or anything similar being coupled with DA legislation at present, this fear is absolutely unfounded on the facts, as their is not such legislation, drafted or otherwise. That is it.

All this inane name calling of "far-left, communist, feminist, regressive, libertard, etc" is a pointless distraction from the discussion at hand.

To which a natural reaction should be:
First, what the f--- are you talking about?
Second, what connection does it even have to DA?
Third, what the f--- are you talking about?

Doesn't mean people should be adding more stupidity to them.

The US is not ready to legalize 11m+ undocumented people, it's the cold truth. To be honest my mom doesn't even want to stay in the U.S, she's just worried about me, she knows I have nothing back in my birthplace (Colombia). All she wishes is for a way for her to be able to work, and even if that's not possible, to at least be able travel, that way she can visit me or I can visit her.

I don't think all 11m undoc's seek a path to legalization, but these groups just like to over exaggerate.

I agree. I think a lot of our parents would not mind going back home once they see that we are settled here. They are growing old as well and will not be able to work past a few more years.

No it doesn't come from a place of good faith. They are more like anarchists with zero understanding of how the country functions. Just look at their stand. Open borders, legalizing even people with serious records, no DHS. I hope all those idiots are sent packing so they don't ruin it for others.

Said *your* disagreement to their irrational concerns is in good faith - not theirs.

You cannot control how others react or behaviour, but if your genuinely interested in changing hearts and minds, rather than pointless ideological posturing (i.e. brandishing about stupid labels like far-left lunatics, which only turns the other party off; the rhetorical equivalence of having a monologue), then it important to listen and answer their actual content.

After all, it is all you can really do, as far as the other person is concerned.

That is, if you want to be relevant and maybe have an effect.
