Got it. I thought I had read on the USCIS website that if I submitted to early they would reject the application.

Considering that your new EAD has an expiration date 2 years after you're approval date instead of 2 years after your old EAD expires, the sooner you send in your renewal, the better it is for USCIS because they make more money because you lose out some months.

Nice! Happy for you. Makes me want to submit mine in advance, but still not sure it if I should. Anybody submitted theirs after Sept 5th, even though it expires after March 5th?

No, it is too late for that. The OP submitted his renewal prior to September 5 and that is why he was approved. USCIS said they would process all applications renewals and initial requests that were submitted before September 5, doesn't matter the expiration. But now after the rescission of DACA, they will reject all intial requests and renewal requests that are for applications that expire after March 5, 2018. This is something they check at the lockbox now just like they check if you signed everything and if the amount of your check is correct. You can try but it will most likely get rejected and sent back to you right away.

In the very beginning it was on the website that USCIS might reject early renewal applications, but that wording was removed.
