From another article:

Quote:
The brief goes on to detail the challenges to the decision to end DACA — challenges that led to injunctions by federal courts in California and New York that halted the "wind-down," in part. Specifically, they barred the Trump administration from stopping DACA renewals.
Those injunctions, DOJ argued Friday night, "would conflict with a preliminary injunction — and especially a nationwide one — in this [Texas-led] case, subjecting the United States to inconsistent obligations."

Simply put: DOJ would have the orders from federal courts that it continue DACA — and an order from a different federal court that it halt DACA.

Although the Justice Department does argue "that courts have typically held" in "similar situations" that "the appropriate course is for a district court to refrain from issuing a conflicting injunction," DOJ nonetheless goes on to offer its view on what Hanen should do "if this Court decides that preliminary injunctive relief is appropriate."

This, then, could lead to the Supreme Court.

This issue — the "inconsistent obligations" concern — leads to what could quickly become the main effect of the Texas-based lawsuit: pushing all of the cases, and final resolution of the issue, more quickly to the Supreme Court.

In February, the Supreme Court denied DOJ's request that it hear an immediate appeal of the injunction out of the federal court in California — instead forcing the department first to seek an appeal in the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.

Now, however, in its brief to Judge Hanen, the Justice Department is setting up a path to quickly return to the Supreme Court.

If Hanen does grant an injunction in the Texas-led case, the DOJ lawyers wrote, "it should stay such order for 14 days so the United States can seek stays of all the DACA injunctions in the respective courts of appeals and the Supreme Court."

A hearing on the states' request for a preliminary injunction is currently set for July 17.

Thread 2 on the midnight DACA court News. This is about DOJ and Texas - who are on opposite sides of this case - manufacturing a crisis to try to end DACA renewals next month, and get SCOTUS to rule in an “emergency” fashion.

Unless youre advocating on the streets, Start donating money to United we dream. Its an investment. If you don't do something to help their movement now then you wont have the money or freedom later.

I have a bit of an issue with them and their advocacy because their strategy has not been effective. I think they were influenced by political opportunist orgs like America's Voice in settling for a false sense of confidence after Daca and this is a consequence of that. Also, they are not transparent in how the funds raised for Dreamers are used.

Precisely. You want to know how UWD makes millions?? They say they will pay for DACA renewals. Here you go www.dacarenwalfund.com if you're interested in that offer. See where it leads. It leads straight to asking you to donate.

Organizations like this one PREY on immigrants by scaring them and saying "Donate to us immediately because our communities are under attack!!"

Do not do not donate to organizations like this!

I do believe in public demonstrations and organizing because these when done by local organizations and leaders have been effective at preventing some deportations and demonstrating the value of immigrants in the community.

Chill out. It's because of organizations like UWD that you have DACA in the first place. They can be extreme with their demands but nonetheless they still benefit our cause.

UWD is not the reason why I have DACA in the first place. Obama is the reason why we have DACA. What the fuck type of shit are you smoking?? They're not going to benefit shit. Dreamers like Hilario Yanez are the true reason we are close to a compromise. Go take a look at their financials before claiming that they are responsible for us having DACA. They've got no interest in Dream Act passing because their donations will stop.

You mean to say that they benefited our cause. These days all they do is demand all or nothing, knowing full well that the Trump administration will never agree to that. They want us to stay illegal so that they can continue to make money.

You beat me to it! I was going to post that so here we go.

They have raised almost a million dollars for 'Daca renewals'. Daca costs $500+. Unless they have paid FOR EVERY SINGLE DACA HOLDER since before the fee increase a few month ago, which clearly they have not, what else do they do with the money??

They work in conjunction with America's Voice and its leader who gets quoted in every immigrant rights article in nat media which I find highly inappropriate. Find the immigrant and use his/her voice! Not these people.
